The flute concerto is a concerto for solo flute and
instrumental ensemble, customarily the orchestra. This
work by Pergolesi was written in the Baroque period,
when the solo concerto form was first developed, and
continues up through the present day. Some major
composers have contributed to the flute concerto
repertoire, with the best known works including those
by Mozart and Vivaldi.
Although this piece was originally written for Flute,
Violins and Basso Continuo, I arranged it for Woodwind
Quartet (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet & Bassoon).
