Vicent Rodríguez Monllor (1690 – 1760) was a
Valencian composer and musician, successor in 1715 of
Joan Baptista Cabanilles as principal organist of the
Cathedral of Valencia. His best-known work is the
"Libro de Tocatas par, Címbalo", manuscript dated 1740
with 30 sonatas for harpsichord. For organ, he has
several Tocatas and verse selections for the Pange
Lingua and there is a Mass in the Archives of the
Patriarch (no. 5,045 of the catalog) and 4 works in the

Missa à 5 is a setting of the mass for solo soprano
and SATB chorus. Note that the pitch standard for
Cathedral's music was about 392 Hz for A above middle
C, a whole tone lower than modern practice where A is
usually 440 Hz.
Although originally composed for Choir (S-SATB), I
created this arrangement of "Missa à 5" for Wind
Sextet (Flute, Oboe, English Horn, French Horn, Bass
Clarinet & Bassoon).
