Josef Rheinberger - (1839-1901) is remembered for a
body of organ works, Rheinberger was born in
Liechtenstein and lived mainly in Munich. He had a
highly successful career having entered the Academy of
Music at the age of twelve. He was a virtuoso player of
piano and organ but also became an opera promoter who
worked with Wagner. Many of his students went on to
even greater heights. This Abendlied is a gem of a

Although originally written for Chorus (SSATTB), I
created this arrangement for Woodwind Quartet (Flute,
Oboe, Bb Clarinet & Bassoon).
