Thomas Babou, born in Liège, Belgium, on February 12,
1656, died in Liège around 1740 is a Liège organist
and composer. Very little is known about him at the
moment. He was organist at the Collegiate Church of
Saint John the Evangelist of Liège,at least from 1687
until 1726.
His son, Jean-François-Pascal(1700-1767), was also
organist at the collegiate (from 1726 to 1767),
practised as a notary, and was secretary of the chapter
of St. John from 1742. He is probably owed a copy of an...(+)

organ book,kept in the library of the Conservatory of
Liège, containing several pieces "by Monsieur Babou",
dated 1709 and 1710. Their brilliant and mundane style
oscillates between Italian and French influences at Le
Bègue,and can in many cases be suitable for
harpsichord.
