Johann Jakob Ammann (1754-1818) was born on February
17, 1754 as the son of Johannes Liberat Ammann and M.
Dorothea, née Erne, probably born in Rankweil. His
grandfather (of the same name) was born in Schnifis
around 1725 and later moved to Rankweil. J.J. Ammann
Married the "Musicus" and organist Maria Agatha Aloisia
at the age of 31; a marriage that produced 5 boys and 4
Girls.
Ammann received music training at a young age in one of
the music centers in Vienna or Munich as a

Two arias dated 1777 are considered to be youth works
by Ammann composed at the age of 23. His later works
following a creative period, such as "Salve Regina ex
B", "Aria de Beata" or "Quem vidisti pastores “, are
fully on the high of the time of the Viennese Classic.
Later, Ammann worked as an organist in Rankweil, and
participated in the performance; provided with only
modest means once he had left the Music centers. The
fourth child, Johann Michael Ammann, is known as the
founder and first Kapellmeister of the “Turkish field
music von Rankweil ”. J.J. Ammann died of one in
Rankweil in 1818 at the age of 64 Lung infection.
Although originally written for Soprano Voice, Bass
Voice & Pipe Organ, I created this Interpretation of
the Mass in A Major for String Ensemble (2 Violins, 2
Violas & 2 Cellos).
