International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers

CISAC
By co-ordinating the work of authors’ societies around the world, CISAC contributes to the establishment and development of a global network, enabling societies to seamlessly represent creators and publishers across the globe. More information at cisac.org.

IPI (or CAE)
IPI is an identifying number assigned in the CISAC database to each Interested Party in musical rights management. Money is collected by a national society when copyrighted music is performed in public, in the form of license fees. This society then pays out royalties to the parties that have a financial interest in that music. These Interested Parties include the writer of the music (i.e. the composer), the writer of the lyrics (i.e. the author), and the person or company that publishes the music (i.e. the publisher). ipisystem.org

The free-scores.com composers who are members to a authors’ societies are subject to declaration for any performance or public performance of works.
The organizer of the performance (eg. Firm that manages concert halls) who pays a fee to a authors society (PRO) must declare the composer on the declaration form (cue sheet). Whatever the country of authors attached to the authors society, the organizer of the performance must make his statement to his respective authors society country . The IPI code (formerly CAE code) allows the interconnection of these international authors societies.
