Popular piece from Fidler on the Roof by Jerry Bock The hit song from Fiddler on the Roof is set here in a minor mode, at a slow lilting waltz tempo. It should be played with careful observance of the dynamics with sensitivity to the 'weeping motif' in measures 19-20 and ebb and flow in measures 39-40, careful to bring out the emotion of the piece expressing a sense of nostalgic longing and the poignant observance of the passage of time.

Schubertâ??s Mass in E-flat major is the last of his six settings of the Ordinarium Missae (Mass ordinary) and also his most important work in this genre. The mass is full of color and drama, infused with the spirit of confession. For many choirs, it is on the wish list of those works they would like to sing someday. But what happens if you donâ??t have enough singers, money is tight, and your venue is on the small side? Here the experienced arranger and orchestral musician Joachim Linckelmann has a great solution. His version for soloists, choir and chamber orchestra requires only 7 winds rather than the original 13. The string parts, while identical to the original, can now also be scaled back. The vocal parts (soloists and chorus) are completely untouched by the arrangement, so that the vocal scores and choral scores of the Carus Urtext edition can also be used for performanceâ?¢,A large-scale work now arranged for smaller choirs â?¢,13 winds of the original version reduced to 7 instrumentsâ?¢,Vocal scores and choral scores of the original version can still be usedâ?¢,carus plus: The work (original version) is available in the app carus music, the Choir Coach, as well as in our Carus Choir Coach series (audio only).. Score available separately - see item CA.4066000.

Zoltán Kodály s complete choral works for mixed voices were published in a new, extended, edition in 2018 (Z. 6725 and Z. 6725A). This volume containing 51 compositions has been edited by the renowned conductor Péter Erdei, one of the most devoted interpreters of Kodály s choral works. The new edition takes into consideration the manuscript sources for the compositions housed in the Kodály Archives in Budapest. The publication features new, easily-legible music scores edited on uniform principles. For better readability, the new edition is printed in a slightly larger format than previous editions. The present publication is an offprint from the renewed edition of Kodály s completechoral works for mixed voices. The text of this choral work is an old translation into English of a now apocryphal psalm taken from the Septuagint (the first Greek translation of the Old Testament). The psalm is to this day a canonized part of the Orthodox and the Coptic Bibles, and indeed the Hebrew original was found among the Dead Sea Scrolls.

The composer Péter Andorka (born 1987) studied under Miklós Kocsár and Miklós Csemiczky at the Bartók Secondary School of Music and under János Vajda at the Liszt Academy of Music, both in Budapest. Apart from solo, chamber and orchestral works, several vocal compositions of his (oratorios and choral works) have been performed, and he has also composed for the stage. The Three Liturgical Chants to Latin texts were composed for six-part female choir in 2009. The text of the first piece (Lux aeterna) comes from the mass for the dead, that of the second (Laudate Dominum) from Psalm 116 (117 in many English translations), and that of the third (Adoro te devote) from a hymn by StThomas Aquinas, whose Gregorian chant is also incorporated into the work. The euphony and elaborate part-writing of the Three Liturgical Chants place a serious task before choirs, particularly in terms of intonation. Especially the wide compass of Lux aeterna requires a professional choir The pieces in the cycle can be purchased separately (Z. 14941, 14942 and 14943).
