Faure a attiré pas pour composer un Requiem en raison de la mort d'un être cher, même si sa mère durant les premiers stades de la composition et son père était décédé deux ans plus tôt. Composition de Faure ne définit pas son Reuiem à la norme texte liturgique, plutôt ajout d'un lyrique Pie Jesu et Paradisum transcendante et omettre le Dies Irae et les forces de Tuba Mirum - qui sont, pour la plupart des compositeurs, occasions de démontrer les possibilités dramatiques disponibles avec le choeur et orchestre. En conséquence, l'ambiance du Requiem est relativement calme et paisible et souvent appelé l'une berceuse de la mort. The SAM-Klang series offers basic and advanced choral repertoire arranged for soprano, alto and one male voice- part. Chorale settings form a central part of Telemann's oeuvre. His 1754 setting of the church hymn Christus, der ist mein Leben, based on Melchoir Vulpius' melody from the Hamburg Hymnal, is especially well-suited to display his mastery in depicting the words of the chorale. The so-called 'Ausfüllungsbass? (a vocal bass added to the principal bass in tutti passages) was probably necessitated by the acoustical properties of Hamburg's churches. This is the first Urtext edition of this highly successful chorale setting which is based on Georg Philipp Telemann Musical Works. Kantate Zum Epiphaniasfest. Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. This six-movement cantata uses the hymn of the same name by Ahasverus Fritsch, first recorded in 1698 in the Darmstädter Liederbuch. This places it amongst those chorale cantatas which use a hymn from the repertoire associated with Pietism. As was customary, the hymn text is retained in the outer movements, whereas the text for the inner movements - two secco recitatives and a tenor and a bass aria - are concerned with the contrast between the hostile world and the certainty of Jesus- the links between the cantata text and the Feast of the Epiphany are correspondingly tenuous. In the first movement the soprano sings the hymn melody complete, accompanied by mainly homophonic vocal parts, whilst the instrumental writing is largely influenced by the melody of the first line of the hymn. Remarkable is the tenor aria, with its contrasting central section and its chromatic twists and turns, in which Bach once again proves himself to be a master of harmony. Sämtliche Choralsätze. Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. The Complete Chorales are an Urtext edition of all four-part chorales by Johann Sebastian Bach and the new standard in editing for this genre. Musicologist Thomas Daniel, a well-known specialist for the topic of Bach chorales, divided the chorales in two parts of about equal length: Chorales from cantatas, motets, and passions that were confirmedly written by Bach are found in the first part, while the second part includes chorales from later sources and printings, e.g. the four-volume edition published by Breitkopf in 1784 to 1787. Thereby, the authentic chorales are clearly separated from the chorales of partly dubious authorship for the first time. Drawing on new sources, e.g. from the archive of the Berliner Sing-Akademie, some settings can even be attributed to Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach – contrary to his claim in the preface of the Breitkopf edition that all “songs” were “created by my dear late father”.
The volume includes an informative preface and a separate introduction on the edition for both parts while giving editorial remarks for each chorale for the first time, directly below the score.
