Chester G. Allen

Born: Feb­ru­a­ry 15, 1838, West­ford, New York. Died: Oc­to­ber 18, 1878, Coop­ers­town, New York. Known as a teach­er, com­pos­er and mu­sic­al writ­er, Al­len ed­it­ed and com­piled col­lect­ions of mu­sic for schools and church­es, con­tain­ing ma­ny of his own com­po­si­tions. For some time he, ed­it­ed the New York Mu­sic­al Ga­zette, and al­so taught mu­sic in the pub­lic schools of Clev­eland, Ohio.
