The Austrian clarinetist Peter Forcher is conductor of the ‘Pannonisches Blasorchester’ and docent at the Musical Institute Oberschützen, part of the Art University Graz. In order to support basset horn play he arranged pieces of famous and beautiful music for this instrument. Franz Schubert in 1817 composed the song ‘Der Tod und das Mädchen’ (Death and the Maiden) (op 7/D 531) for voice and piano. Forcher arranged this piece for clarinet and 3 basset horns.
