This SSAA work, originally written for SATB voices celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Masterworks Community Chorale in Newnan, Georgia. The inspirational text is Somewhere I Have Never Traveled, a text by the Yale Theologian, Thomas Troeger. Somewhere I Have Never Traveled has potential for building tone and creating a panorama of colors, while at the same time creating emotional soundscapes, all through a delightful text that creates a dreamlike innocence.
It has been a joy to re-voice this original SATB composition for SSAA voices and to collaborate with Heather Orr at Montgomery High School. In July 2014, my dear friend Kathy Bizarth commissioned me to compose a new work celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Masterworks Community Chorale in Newnan, Georgia. It was in September when we agreed on the inspirational text, Somewhere I Have Never Traveled, a text by the Yale Theologian, Thomas Troeger. I moved to Italy in January for a sabbatical, and in February, I spent four days composing the piece at the Palazzo Bassi Brugnatelli, a dear friend's villa in Robbiate, Italy. Interestingly enough, the middle part of the piece (mm. 30-39) and end of the piece came first (mm. 40-62). Completed in Conegliano in late February, this composition is very special to me as it was the first composition I wrote after my mother died, and it was also composed for a dear friend. I have a profound connection to what I hope will be a deeply inspirational composition to those who sing it. Somewhere I Have Never Traveled has real potential for building tone and creating a panorama of colors, while at the same time creating emotional soundscapes, all through a delightful text that creates a dreamlike innocence. Die Kirchenmusik an der Himmelfahrtskirche in München-Sendling hat eine lange und erfolgreiche Tradition. Seit 2008 findet alljährlich im Oktober die Sendlinger Orgelnacht statt. Zur 8. Sendlinger Orgelnacht, die unter dem Motto Kaleidoskop stand, wurde ich um einen Beitrag gebeten. So entstand das hier vorliegende Werk. Es handelt sich dabei um Klangflächen, die sich aus einzelnen Tönen, dem Zusammenklang in verschiedenen Lautstärken und dem Wechsel von Höhen und Tiefen entwickeln. Die Uraufführung erfolgte am 23. Oktober 2015 durch KMD Klaus Geitner. (Lothar Graap).

Atwood's love-triangle offers plenty of classic music drama, her dystopia is painted in complex, industrial soundscapes and the post-armageddon solitude in contemporary-contemplativ e open spaces. Electronics extend and augment the orchestral colors and help achieving the unreal “haunted” atmosphere and the different reality levels of the protagonist's memory.

On January 1st, 2016, Stephane Vande Ginste had an extraordinary intention: he planned to compose a 1-minute piece for piano every single day for the whole year. The result is an impressive collection of piano miniatures which - although contemporary - result in a variety of musical styles: apart from some experimental pieces, there are jazzy- and poppy pieces, more traditional etudes, polyphonic compositions and so on... The 366 pieces also tell various stories: from very emotional events like the terrorist attacks in Brussels over homages in honor of deceased artists (David Bowie,...) to birthdays and festive occasions,... . More than once, even poetry (Heinrich Heine, Anna Enquist, ..) or other pieces of art inspired Stephane to compose his daily one-minute piece. Every single composition originated from the here and now, and therefore capture the unfiltered feelings and emotions of that very unique moment in time: joy, enthusiasm, but also melancholy and sadness.
