in Full Score. Par SAINT-SAENS CAMILLE. Considered throughout much of his career as the preeminent French composer, Camille Saint-Saëns wrote music that embodies a characteristic French concern for clarity and order, together with his own assured mastery of the composer's craft. These qualities are evident in Saint-Saëns' Symphony No. 3, widely regarded as the composer's major orchestral work, and one of the very few to incorporated the organ as a featured instrument. Saint-Saëns wrote this symphony during the period of his greatest creativity — in the 1870s and '80s — at which time he also produced such important works as the opera Samson et Dalila, Le Carnaval des animaux, the Piano Concerto No. 4, and the Violin Concerto No. 3. Deeply moving and majestic, the 'Organ' Symphony bears all the hallmarks of Saint-Saëns' fluent mastery of orchestral composition. It is reprinted here form an authoritative full-score edition published by Durand et Schoenewerk, Paris. Reprint of the Durand et Schoenewerk, Paris, edition. Widely regarded as the composer's major orchestral work, and one of the few to incorporate the organ as a featured instrument./ Répertoire / Orchestre

About William Walton Edition
In March 2014 Oxford University Press published the last volume in its magnificent William Walton Edition, the only complete critical edition of a 20th-century British composer's oeuvre. All 24 volumes are handsomely printed and bound. Walton's entire output is now available to scholars and performers in a definitive and fully practical edition, based on the form in which the composer ultimately wished his music to be performed. The general editor, David Lloyd-Jones - the eminent conductor, English music specialist, and founder of Opera North - invited a world-class expert to edit each volume. Carefully researched introductory essays place the works in their historical context and in the composer's oeuvre, and there are full critical notes.

Christma s Cantata (Sinfonia Sacra), the most famous piece of Daniel Pinkham, composed in 1957, is a church composition for chorus, double brass and organ. Written in Latin. Accessible to good high-school and college singers, the opening statement is sung by the whole SATB chorus, followed by the Allegro section, which is rhythmically quite complicated. The middle section is sung by sopranos and altos while the Rondo, which is part of the final part, is sung by the whole SATB, its verses being interpreted by the different groups. Daniel Pinkham (1923-2006) is an American composer, organist and harpsichordist. Most of his compositions were related to church music and his best known works are the Christmas, Advent and wedding cantatas.

The cantata Ich habe meine Zuversicht BWV 188 comes from the so-called Picander cycle and was written for the 21st Sunday after Trinity in 1728 or 1729. There are some particular problems associated with its transmission. The original set of parts was lost, and the manuscript score only survives in fragmentary form. Probably as early as the 18th century the score was divided up into numerous separate parts in order to make more money, or to be able to provide as many Bach relics as possible for posterity. The first movement, an instrumental sinfonia, is missing apart from the final bars. We simply know that this sinfonia is based on the 3rd movement of the Harpsichord Concerto BWV 1052 in D minor and that instead of the harpsichord, an obbligato organ was envisaged. Its successful reconstruction by the baroque specialist and organist Pieter Dirksen now makes it possible to perform the cantata again complete with the introductory sinfonia.

Please check the respective concertos to find the orchestral parts. World premiere version with two sets: Oct. 21 2011 NULL.

Melody is the very essence of music. -W.A.Mozart (1786)Mozart confirmed this view on melody by writing the Ave Verum Corpus near theend of his short life. Originally written for chorus, strings, and organ, this work standsamong the most beautiful musical expressions of all time. Timothy Johnson has skillfullymade Mozart's wondrous achievement available to concert bands. It's perfect forworship services and the sostenuto style, with careful attention to dynamics, makesit a great choice for that middle spot at festival or for the more serious moment atany performance. Given the opportunity, young bands LOVE to play truly greatmusic, and it just doesn't getmuch better than the mastery of Mozart.
