Urtext (1932-1939). Bartók's Mikrokosmos has been one of the milestones in pedagogical piano repertoire for 80 years - and yet it is also far more than a "classical" piano primer. These 153 piano pieces, organized in ascending order of difficulty, engage not only with technical aspects of piano playing but also with the fundamentals of composition - from "Imitation and Inversion," "Ostinato," and "Free Variations," concerning compositional technique, to mood pieces and pieces with programmatic ideas such as "Notturno," "Boating," "From the Diary of a Fly," or the famous "Six Dances in Bulgarian Rhythm." Mikrokosmos first appeared in 1940 in six volumes. Based on volume 40 of the Bartók Complete Edition published in 2020(Z. 15040), the present Urtext edition offers the series gathered in three volumes. This edition includes Bartók's preface, exercises, and notes written for the first edition. Furthermore, it also features a preface and comments by the editor, which not only discuss the genesis and the compositional sources but also provide performers, teachers and pupils alike, with authentic and detailed information about Bartók's notation and the specific performing problems of Mikrokosmos.

From an earlier Belwin Mills edition this is Volume 2 of a series of the piano works of the great Russian-American composer. These compositions were written as 'picture pieces' though Rachmaninoff did not reveal what each piece was to suggest preferring to leave that discovery to the pianist. This book contains the complete Opus 33 and Opus 39 works

This Viardot Edition is the first critical edition of Pauline ViardotÂ’s songs. It is based on fair copies of the woman composer, who was one of the most versatile singers and important representatives of the bel canto performance tradition in the 19th century. The present volume includes settings of Russian texts by Pushkin, Feth and Turgenev as well as Italian-language songs based on Tuscan folk lyrics. All songs are accompanied by German translations, which were specifically prepared for the German first edition in the 19th century.
The solo Lied with piano accompaniment was Pauline Viardot’s main genre, which she made bloom in the most diverse colors, depending on text and style. In addition to her own use, the sought-after vocal pedagogue also wrote her songs for her students. Accordingly, the songs included in this volume are suitable for different vocal genres in terms of their ranges and expressive content: for example, songs such as “Zwei Rosen”, “L'innamorata” or “Das Vöglein” are suitable for light, high voices, while lyrical, lower voices can find suitable songs with “Ruhige, heilige Nacht”, “Flüstern, atemscheues Lauschen” or “C’era una volta”. For versatile voices with a gift for coloratura, “Non vi maravigliate” is a little showpiece, while voices with the ability for dramatic accents can sing songs like “Die Beschwörung” or “Mitternächtige Bilder”. Unlike the sometimes very long Russian songs, the consistently short Italian songs are well suited as an introduction to the easier Italian repertoire. The songs depict clearly defined scenes within which the singers are able to develop their respective characters.

'Six Pieces' Op. 19 is the first collection of piano pieces by Tchaikovsky which contributed significantly to his growing renown as most important Russian composer apart from Anton Rubinstein. Famous contemporary pianists like Nikolai Rubinstein and Hans von Bülow performed Rêverie du soir (Op. 19 No. 1) or Thème original et variations (No. 6) in their concerts in the 1870s. Commissioned by his Moscow publisher P. I. Jurgenson Six Pieces Op. 19 was composed by Tchaikovsky in the summer and autumn of 1873 i.e. during his time as professor of theory at the Moscow Conservatoire.Bülow had entered 'little changes' in his own copy of the first edition ofVariations Op. 19/6. There is however no documentary proof which of Bülow's changes Tchaikovsky eventually included in the Nouvelle édition revue et corrigée par l?auteur of Op. 19 published only in 1890. The present new edition therefore contains both versions of the Variations. Tchaikovsky's version of the first edition can be found in the appendix of the present volume Bülow's version expressly adopted by Tchaikovsky is presented together with Nos. 1-5 in the main text of the volume on the basis of the Nouvelle édition revue et corrigée par l?auteur from 1890.

20 Romanzen-Tchaikovsky's songs are part of a ricj musical and social tradition; the Russian Romance. They are exhilarating to perform and have a speical way of expressing the emotional essence of a poem. This collection of 20 Romances is scored for Medium/Low Voice and Piano accompaniment. The text is printed in both Russian and English.

From an earlier Belwin Mills edition, this is Volume 5 of a series of the piano works of the great Russian-American composer. Included are Rachmaninoff's Opus 28 and Opus 36 Sonatas. The Opus 28, in D-minor, in three movements, was completed in 1907 and was introduced in Dresden, Germany. The Opus 36, in B-flat minor, also in three movements, was written and 1913 but was later revised by the composer.
