Stylistically evocative of Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings and the distinctive musical language of Arvo Pärt Lament is based around a two-bar arching ostinato artfully developing musical fragments and enriching the texture to reach a powerful central climax. Moving On is a single movement work for string quartet. Skempton masterfully combines classical string quartet textures with luxuriant harmonies and a fluid approach to tonality resulting in an appealing modern addition to the genre.

The 'ch'in' is a traditional Chinese seven-stringed plucked zither which was associated with sages and scholars. The sophisticated technique of 'ch'in' playing involves various ways of plucking the strings as well as range timbre and the use of ornaments. In this composition for string quartet Zhou captures the essence of these special musical gestures frequently found in 'ch'in' music.

This is a version for string quartet of Erkoreka's saxophone quartet Duduk II. It is the last of the four Duduk pieces which are based on the traditional modes/scales of Armenia.

This work for string trio is inspired by Jean-Jacques Rousseau's Dictionnaire de Musique with each of the three movements initiated by one of Rousseau's musical entries.

Harmony for string quartet is a musical summation of three harmonic principles: Peace-Light-Love. The first movement starts with a vigorous five-note chromatic motive followed by a peaceful harmonic section that gradually develops into a multi-layered chant-like theme. The middle movement is slow and meditative with interweaving tonal melodies while the third movement returns to the opening chromatic motive slightly altered and played prestissimo.
