The name of the work refers to the hours of night when impulses buried deep in the sunconscious are released from the labyrinth of the mind. The subject ties in with Harri Vuori's composition - althoug abstactly - in that both the light, mobile motifs and the slower, lyrical passages are gradually forced to give way to a repetitive texture rising from the depths. It builds up to a mighty climax that makes heavy demands on both the technique and the physical resources of the performers. Duration ca 10 minutes.

Bellowspeak- accordion basics piece by piece is a 16-movement suite for solo accordion designed for children and young musicians. Progressing in technical difficulty, it presents and charts one possible pathway to teaching the accordion; in the concluding movement, the range of playing techniques and expression used is much broader than at the beginning. Indeed, the piece begins with an extremely limited toolkit including only four pitches. Bellowspeak is intended to introduce young musicians to the ways and means of contemporary music in a natural way, as part of day-to-day music-making.

Transcription by Matti Rantanen for accordion of Einojuhani Rautavaara's Icons (1955) / Matti Rantasen transkriptio harmonikalle Einojuhani Rautavaara pianosarjasta Ikonit (1955). Rautavaara's early piano composition, the suite Ikonit (Icons; 1955) shows great variety in the young composer's style. The most traditionally Neoclassical movements are 'Kaksi maalaispyhimysta' (Two Country Saints), which harks back to the Pelimannit style, and the fast-moving finale 'Arkkienkeli Mikael kukistaa Antikristuksen' (Archangel Michael defeats the Antichrist). Another dimension in this music is Orthodox mysticism, which breaks forth in the opening section 'Jumalaidin kuolema' (The Death of the Mother of God).
