The Tanzsuite mit Deutschlandlied (Dance Suite with German National Anthem) was premiered in 1980 at the Donaueschingen Festival under the direction of Sylvain Cambreling. 35 years later, we have now filmed the piece, once again conducted by Cambreling, with the Staatsorchester Stuttgart and the Arditti Quartet. Sectional rehearsals with Helmut Lachenmann did not take place, but the approximately eight hours of orchestra rehearsals also provided much graphic material for the two rehearsal films. In the interview film, the composer goes into detail about, for example, the structure of the piece in which he has dealt with a variety of dances and German Folk Songs. Lachenmann's pre-concert speech, preparing the audience for the performance of the Tanzsuite, gives a special accent to the DVD. The Famous One in the Leading EditionBeethoven spent a relatively long time on his 5th Symphony. Thus, first sketches can already be found from as early as 1804, four years before the work was premiered in Vienna in December 1808. Not only impressive is its striking opening theme, letting everyone know immediately that this is Beethoven being played, but also its nickname symphony of fate. Nothing in the sources prefigures the much-cited fate, musically knocking here at the door. The autograph of the score and the set of parts prepared from it, including Beethoven's revisions, serve as the main sources of this Urtext edition, together with the missing copy of the score, now extant only incomplete in photographs, and the original edition of the parts authorized by Beethoven. The new performance material is based on the recently published volume of the New Beethoven Complete Edition.

The Havanaise possibly has its roots in the friendship of the composer with the Cuban-born violinist Rafael Diaz Albertini. It is thus perfectly plausible that Saint-Saens borrowed the Cuban syncopated slow dance Habanera out of kindness towards his performance partner when he was getting ready to write a work for Diaz Albertini in 1887. Saint-Saens originally wrote a version for violin and piano, which was later followed by the orchestral version that the publisher Durand had urged him to write. Diaz Albertini, to whom the work was dedicated, gave its world premiere before other virtuosos adopted it for themselves and spread its fame throughout the world. The basis of this first Urtext edition of the piece is the first edition, which was presumably personally overseen by Saint-Saens.

The present ode was the first of many commissioned ,The Musical Society' for the annual celebration of St. Cecilia's Day (November 22nd). It was obviously a great success, for the ode was printed in score in 1684 and the Society had to move for the 1684 celebrations to a later hall, the Stationer's Hall. The ode of 1683 shows Purcell's ingenuity in every aspect and set a high standard for all the other composers who followed him among them Blow and Handel. The present edition has the above mentioned print of 1684 as source. Title page dedication and the first and last pages are here reprinted in facsimile. The few obvious misprints in the original have been corrected. The date of composition of the cantata Lobe den Herren, meine Seele can only be conjectured. However, several indications suggest an early composition, possibly during Kuhnau's stay in Zittau. The work is one of only two known cantatas by Kuhnau in which cornetti are scored - the second work is the cantata Christ lag in Todes-Banden (PB 32034) -, even so in combination with three trombones as an early baroque wind section. In addition, the musical texture of the introductory Sonata can certainly be understood as a reminiscence of the polychorality known from the Renaissance and early Baroque as well as their connection with the basso continuo era, since four strings and bassoon on the one side and five wind instruments on the other side face each other over a continuous continuo part. The text of the cantata is a selection of a few verses from Psalm 103. This is the larger scored cantata with this textual basis; parallel to it exists a smaller scored one for alto, bass, violin, oboe d'amore and continuo.

Ulrich Rasches erste Orgelsonate entstand im Mai und Juni des Jahres 2011. Es ist ein Zufall, dass die acht Buchstaben des Namens ,,Schadach vollstandig in Noten umsetzbar sind. Diese Tonfolge beherrscht alle drei Satze der Sonate: Das Prelude, als erster Satz, ist formal in Sonatenhauptsatzform gestaltet. Das Achttonmotiv leitet den Satz quasi leitmotivisch ein. Ein toccatenhafter Ubergang fuhrt zum zweiten Thema, das als Ruhepol bitonal daherkommt. Immer wieder wird die Toccata-Uberleitung eingeschoben und entwickelt sich beinahe zu einem dritten Thema, das den Satz virtuos abschliesst. Die Canzone ist ein ruhiger und entspannter Satz, der als Achttonmotiv in Form von funf Variationen verandert wird. Dem Satz wohnt eine durchaus schmerzliche Gefuhlswelt (doloroso) inne, wird dann jedoch lyrischer und endet in spharischer Verklarung. Dieser Satz erfahrt vielfaltige Stimmungen, die vom Organisten sehr farbenreich registriert werden sollten. Die abschliessende Toccata ist hochvirtuos und von feurigem Charakter. Ein sehr leidenschaftlicher Mittelteil gipfelt in einen hochdramatischen Exkurs. Es folgt erneut der erste Teil, der in eine Stretta-Coda mundet, und den Satz fulminant beschliesst.

Thanks to a detailed sketch, we know that Mozart originally wrote his famous Clarinet Concerto K. 622 for basset horn in G or A. It was only in the early editions dating from the 19th century that this work - considered as the Clarinet Concerto par excellence - became unproblematic to play an the A clarinet. However, source studies have revealed that this was made possible only at the price of considerable un-Mozartian alterations of the solo Part. Sabine Meyer, Wolfgang Meyer and Reiner Wehle, the members of the Trio di Clarone, haue eliminated some of these modifications in their new edition, restoring Mozart's original intentions. However, their critical revision in no way impedes the performability of the A-major Concerto.
