This saxophone method is suitable for lessons and self-study and is aimed at young people and adults who want to learn to play the saxophone with fun and success. This is why this established method focuses on well-known songs - long-winded explanations and dry exercises are avoided. All subject matters have been wrapped up in attractive songs and pieces which sound like real music right from the beginning thanks to the live recorded playback tracks. Thus, exercising is fun. Based on Wallace Stevens' poem The Planet on the Table this string quartet's world is made of the music and sounds of remembered times or of something heard that the composer, Martin Bresnick, liked. The quartet has five movements, each headed by a quotation from one of Stevens' poems as a point of departure or pathway into those remembered sounds and music. What matters is that my music, like his (Stevens') poetry, should bear some lineament or character, some affluence, if only half perceived in the poverty of its sounds, of the planet of which it was part..Wallace Stevens' poem The Planet on the Table begins - Ariel was glad he had written his poems, They were of a remembered time Or of something seen that he liked. In this string quartet, also entitled The Planet on the Table, my planet is made of the music and sounds of a remembered time or of something heard that I liked. She Measured the Hour III. Scene 10 Becomes 11 IV. Someone Has Walked Across the Snow V. His Self and the Sun Like Stevens, my self and the sun are one, and my music, like his poetry, although makings of my self, is also makings of the sun. Stevens wrote it was not important that his poetry survive, which is also true of my work. Everything in the studio starts and ends with audio – both analog and digital – yet many musicians know a lot more about the principles of music than the principles behind audio. The Musician's Guide to Audio will include: • Audio theory – sound waves in the real world • Bit resolution • Sample rates • Distortion • The different types of decibels • The meaning of audio specifications • Frequency response • The different types of distortion • Signal-to-noise ratio • Dynamic range • How the human ear hears sound, and more The book then segues into specifications regarding levels, connection standards (both analog and digital), and resolving potential incompatibilities among different pieces of gear. Additional topics include information on the practical ramifications of audio, such as the basics of room acoustics, why speaker placement matters, audio distribution methods including data-compressed formats like MP3, the unique constraints of vinyl, and more. Filled with illustrations and featuring selected “tech talk†sidebars to give details on specific topics for those who want to know “why†as well as “how,†The Musician's Guide to Audio fills a unique need by avoiding overly-technical details, and instead emphasizing the practical implications involved in working with audio in the studio.

At the end of 1944, Allied troops invaded the Netherlands from Belgium. Hope and longing for freedom, which now seemed so close, swept through the Netherlands: Operation Market Garden was launched. Huge numbers of paratroopers made the dangerous jump to take over enemy territory on the south side of the Rhine. Fierce fighting and attempts to cross and secure the river resulted in heavy casualties for the liberating forces. Ground support from the south came too late and there was no alternative but to call off Operation Market Garden. What looked like a quick liberation of the Netherlands turned into a long, bitter struggle. To make matters worse, a harsh winter followed: hunger and cold ate away at hope and the prospect of a liberated Netherlands. The composition 1944 uses original radio fragments from 1944 to describe these events.

Sydney Carter's Lord of the Dance CD is a brilliant compilation that matches the finest work of this much-loved songwriter with some of the leading lights in contemporary music. The distinguished musicians and performers appearing on the disc include Sarah-Jane Morris, Why?, Norma Winstone, The Kingdom Choir, Martyn Joseph, Whirling Pope Joan, Matt Redman, Ian Shaw, Isla Blair, Carrie and David Grant and The Swingle Singers. Sydney Carter himself reads two of his own poems. It has been the inspiration of producers Craig McLeish and Jeremy Taylor to intertwine the most popular songs - and a few unfamiliar gems - with some of Carter's searching poetry. With great sensitivity, the essential religious content of his words, whether sung or spoken, has been faithfully preserved, along with a sense of the music's origins in folksong and dance. At the same time, Carter's universal message about matters of doubt and faith is proclaimed in terms of the plenitude of contemporary sound resources, and the rich plurality of musical styles that is the hallmark of our present age.

Beethoven described his grandly conceived â??Missa solemnisâ? as â??my greatest workâ? and sold manuscript copies to some of the subscribers even before it had appeared in print. This Urtext edition takes into account all the sources including the old and the new complete editions whose relationship is clearly explained in a stemma. In several passages the renowned Beethoven specialist Barry Cooper has arrived at variant readings, such as in the â??Sanctusâ?, where the choir enters instead of the soloists, rather than coming in at â??Pleni sunt coeliâ?. No less worthy of mention is the addition of the soloists to the choir in most of the â??Credoâ?. These matters and many other editorial decisions are documented in the detailed Critical Commentary (Eng). The appendix contains Beethovenâ??s arrangement of the Gregorian chant â??Tantum ergoâ? for the first time. This was composed at the same time as the â??Missa solemnisâ? and most probably stands in a close relation to it.This edition is designed for everyone seeking a combination of a reliable musical text and well-founded editorial suggestions for a successful performance of this masterpiece.
