When Brahms Mendelssohn and Schumann composed for the organ all three turned for inspiration to the musical style of the late Baroque period. Includes 11 'Choral Preludes' by Brahms three 'Preludes And Fugues' by Mendelssohn six 'Fugues' by Schumann and other works by the composers.

Preludes and Fugues was written originally for solo accordion (Op. 95). The version of organ (Op. 95b) was written in 2012 and premiered by Kalevi Kiviniemi at the St. Albans International Organ Festival on 14th July 2013.

Pedagogical in nature these editions offer insightful interpretive suggestions pertinent fingering and historical and stylistic commentary.The name Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849) is synonymous with the Piano. Indeed every one of his compositions includes the instrument. His Preludes several of which are of only moderate difficulty show superb polish and inventive detail. Shaped by the tastes of the Parisian aristocratic salon these pieces make the most of a pianist's technical and musical abilities both in passages of virtuosity and in the variety of possibilities for emotional expression.

Now all of Bärenreiter?s new performing editions of Bach?s organ works are being revised to reflect the current state of scholarship and to convey maximum fidelity to the sources by being linked to ?Bach digital?. The present volume is an updated edition of Series IV, Volume 6 of the ?New Bach Edition? (NBA), prepared by Dietrich Kilian in 1964. The discovery of new sources and a reassessment of existing handwritten copies have brought about changes to the contents of the volume, which now includes the ?Fantasia in C minor? (BWV 1121), the ?Fantasia in G major? (BWV 571), the ?Fugue in G major? (BWV 577) and the C major version of the ?Toccata and Fugue in E major? (BWV 566). On the other hand, the ?Prelude in G major? Five Hymn Tune Preludes (Op. 44) was composed in 1959. It is a collection of short works for solo Organ based on five of the most popular Anglican Hymn Tunes: Old Hundredth - Dundee - Darwall's 148th - Down Ampney - Veni Creator Spiritus. Each Prelude would be suitable for performance before or after a church service or the entire set could be used as a recital item. John Gardner (1917-2011) was a British composer and pedagogue. Best known for his setting of the Christmas Carol Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day he wrote a total of nearly 250 published works. He was Professor of Harmony and Composition at the Royal Academyof Music for over three decades and also taught at Morley College and St Paul’s Girls’ School.

Spring Fancies was written in 1915. It is a collection of two Preludes scored for solo Harp.Sir Hamilton Harty (1879-1941) was an Irish-born composer conductor and pianist who spent most of his life working in Britain. He is best remembered for reviving the fortunes of the Halle Orchestra in Manchester during the 1920s. However he also wrote many works of music including a symphony several arrangements of Handel dozens of songs and chamber works. Most of these have been overlooked since his early death at the age of 61.
