An SATB arrangement of a typical nineteenth-century
Austrian yodelling carol (from Steiermark). This is
great fun to sing - either at the tempo suggested, so
that the words may be savoured, or as fast as the
singers wish (perhaps it would be an idea to ’la’
and yodel a fourth verse at speed!) Its joyous leaps
and assured major-key tonality make it an utter
contrast to the Polish carols on my site. A lovely
addition to any carol programme, and one that is hardly
known outside its homeland.
