Heinrich Maria Romberg (1802 -1859) was a member of a
famous family of musicians. He was the son of the
violinist and composer Andreas Romberg and the nephew
of the famous cellist and composer Bernhard Romberg.
Heinrich Romberg worked as violinist in Paris and St.
Petersburg and there also as opera conductor. Most of
his compositions feature the violin.
The actual quintet was composed in 1840. The title
‘Schweizerischer Kuhreigen’ means pastoral songs
used to attract the cows to be milk...(+)
