This treatment of the three-part collection, published in 1905, is based on Fritz Kreisler's original version and the later pianist transcriptions by Sergei Rachmaninoff. The harmonies, the chromatic developments, and the counterpoint of the pianoforte transcriptions are preserved; the original and transcription are combined into a virtuoso and effective solo piece. The three-triennial act typical of Vienna requires a certain, hardly noticeable freedom of tempo formation without metronomical compulsion.

Philip Harper has created a fabulous transcription of the energetic third movement of Rachmaninoff’s Piano concerto No. 3 in D minor. This movement is comprised of variations on a theme from the first movement of the concerto. The final notes would become Rachmaninoff’s musical signature. An outstanding and very spectacular title!

Ser gei Rachmanioff's Sacred Concerto W molitwach neussypajuschtschuju Bogorodizu (The Theotokos, ever-vigilant in praying) was composed in 1893 for four-voice mixed choir. It was his first contribution to the repertoire of the Russian Orthodox Church. The text is derived from the Feast of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary, the counterpart to the Roman Catholic Assumption Day. In accordance with the standards of the Orthodox Church, Rachmaninoff set it a cappella. This new edition presents the original church Slavonic text in Latin transcription, as well as in a singable German translation. It also contains an English pronunciation table.

Vocalise, for soprano (or tenor) voice with piano accompaniment, came into being in 1910 as the final piece in Rachmaninov's Op. 34 song series. Most of the songs were tailored to suit the personalities of various outstanding Russian singers (including Chaliapin), and dedicated to them. An interesting feature of Vocalise, which was written for the soprano Antonina Nezhdanova, is that, as its title indicates, the vocal solo has no text: the performer can sing it through on any one vowel of her choice. This song became one of the composer's most popular pieces, and countless arrangements have been made of it (for orchestra, for various chamber ensembles, for violin, for cello, for almost every kind of brass instrument, for clarinet, for guitar, for harmonica, even for cello orchestra!). One of the most successful transcriptions for solo piano, first published in 1981, is the work of the world-famous Hungarian concert pianist, conductor and composer, Zoltán Kocsis.
