Duncan encore jeune faisait la connaissance de Jimi Hendrix à l'université Xavier de Cincinnati dans l'Ohio. Jimi était sur place pour deux concerts à la Field House Arena. Ce jour là, Seymour avait apporté avec lui un cadeau pour Jimi : des micros qu'il avait bobiné à la main spécialement pour lui. Roger Mayer installa ces micros sur la Stratocaster blanche de Jimi et ce dernier demanda à Seymour de la lui apporter sur scène. Cet événement fut décisif pour la carrière et l'avenir de Seymour.
