Guitar 4, as well as showing a bass line includes chord symbols with suggested rhythms. These chords are optional.
Guitar 4, which is the bass line, is also provided in bass clef to be doubled by an optional bass guitar. There is fingering provided to suit that instrument.
The bass guitar part is also provided in bass guitar TAB.
The guitar parts can be played just as effectively by electric guitars.
Telstar was composed by Joe Meek and performed by The Tornados in 1962. It is well-known for its castle, as a holiday destination butmostly for the beautiful nostalgic song that shares its name. The origin of themelody goes back at least three centuries and the modern version is probably ahybrid of two songs.

This arrangement is part of a series I amproducing which will allow gatherings of guitarists of all levels to playtogether. As a guitarist and guitar teacher, I’ve noticed how arrangements willoften be too easy for some and too hard for others leaving many ensembleplayers frustrated or dissatisfied. This is a deficiency I am resolving.
My aim is to create arrangements which arestimulating for all. I have done this by tailoring parts to suit the differenttechnical and musical experience of each level of guitarist. This makes thearrangements particularly suitable for guitar societies, school groups andfestivals. The required levels are approximated below. As an experienced musicianand composer, I have added many points of musical interest such as modulations,chord substitutions and counterpoint. This also gives teachers and leaders tothe chance to teach their groups about these devices in the context of learninga real work. Guitars 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7 all play the main melody at somepoint (Guitar 6 being for near-beginners).
Technical Requirements
· Guitars1 & 2 will suit players of Grade 6 (intermediate/advanced) standard or above. There is somehigh-position work.
· Guitars3 & 4 are suitable for players of about Grade 4 (intermediate) standard.
· Guitar5 is suitable for a player of about Grade 2 (beginner) standard.
· Guitar6 is suitable for near-beginners. It is mainly open strings with some first-positionstopped notes. Although it is a technically-easy part, it is very motivatingfor guitarists in their early stages to play with a large ensemble. This partis optional.
· Guitar7 is suitable for players of about Grade 5 (intermediate) standard. The bass line hasornamentation, a lot of rhythmic interest and at times, the melody.
Teachers and player can also benefit fromthe fact that a recording of the arrangement, with performance notes, is alwaysavailable on-line.

Born in Madrid, he studied with Miguel GarcÃa. In 1826, Aguado visited Paris, where he met and became friends with and for a while lived with Fernando Sor.[1] Sor's duo Les Deux Amis (The Two Friends) commemorated the friendship: one part is marked Sor and the other Aguado.Aguado's major work Escuela de Guitarra was a guitar tutor published in 1825.[1] As of 2011, it is still in print, with Tecla Editions releasing a reprint in 2005.[2] In the Escuela Aguado describes his use of fingernails on the right hand as well as his invention of a tripodison: a device that held the guitar and thus minimized the damping effect of the player's body on the guitar's back and sides.[3] Aguado's other works include Trois Rondos Brillants (Opus 2), Le Menuet Affandangado (Opus 15), Le Fandango Varie (Opus 16), as well as numerous waltzes, minuets, and other light pieces. Bambino prodigioe instancabile viaggiatore, la sua opera è impregnata dei colori e dei saporidella Spagna, paese che ha amato profondamente per tutta la vita. L’influenzadel Flamenco è accertata: Albéniz era un habitué delle taverne dove si cantavae suonava questo genere. ASTURIAS, ispirato dalla Granaína (stile flamenco di Granada) è uno di quei brani che ha superato i confinidella musica prettamente classica, raggiungendo un pubblico planetario.
Questatrascrizione, pur conservando alcune idee geniali di Andrés Segovia (latonalità di Mi minore, le terzine a partire dalla terza frase, gli armonicinella sezione centrale), presenta una scrittura chitarristica più precisa, curatanei minimi particolari e una maggiore coerenza con l’originale. Diteggiature esoluzioni nuove per la mano sinistra danno vita a una partitura fresca, riccadi sonorità inedite.

Isaac Albéniz (1860 - 1909) is, without doubt, the truefounder of modern Spanish music.
Child prodigy and tireless traveler, his works are full of colorsand flavors of Spain, a country he has deeply loved all his life. The influenceof Flamenco is proven: Albéniz was a regular in taverns where this genre wassung and played. ASTURIAS, inspired by the Granaína(flamenco style of Granada) is one of those pieces that went beyond theboundaries of purely classical music, reaching a global audience.
This transcription, while retaining some brilliant ideas ofAndrés Segovia (the key of E minor, the triplets starting from the third phrase,the harmonics in the central section), presents a more precise guitar writing,with attention to the smallest details and greater coherence with the original.New fingerings and solutions for the left hand give life to a fresh score, fullof new sounds.

Be Still for thePresence of the Lord is a beautiful modern hymn/worship song, composed in1986 by David Evans.
In 2019, it wasincluded in a list of the UK’s top 10 most popular hymns of all time.
Whatever one’sspiritual views, this instrumental arrangement is a perfect piece for a momentof calm, schools, mediation, reflection, weddings and intimate gatherings.
My arrangement is set for classical/fingerstyleguitarists. There is a second, slightly altered harmonisation for verse 2, andI’ve added a coda to close this version.

It consists of five movements in which the former has a simple, school sonata shape, with two well-identifiable themes, one ethereal based on sets of bells and harmonics and another choppy, contrasting, in parallel ninth intervals, which are developed and subsequently reexposed at the end of the movement.The second movement is a slow time when the resonance of arpeggiated sounds is important. As will happen in the fourth half, the music conveys a sense of freedom, almost improvisation resulting from its unsympted writing and the irregularity of the measure. The third is a Scherzo in which humorous character is accentuated by the rapid descending and ascending glissandi. No less grotesque is the contrasting quote of Gaspar Sanz's Spaniard played in a singular way as will be seen in the interpretation, suddenly interrupted by the glissandi. The fourth is another slow movement in which resonances are also the center. Here you resort to obtaining a particular, harmonic sound similar to the sound of a gong, by placing paper clip on the three boards of the guitar. The fifth and final time is live movement in the form of a purr in which the different episodes are quotes from the themes appeared in the previous movements. The player says about this work: Work dated in 1994, virtuoso and contrasting, of resounding accessibility, not intending to reach the audience using easy resources but an admirable capacity for communication, Gioco is divided into five movements in which varied colours and textures occur and almost all the abundant classical and contemporary timbric resources of the guitar are exploited with intelligence, (controlled challenges, blows on the board, metallic vibration of a clip...), In this work one of the outstanding findings of its author is the alternative use in the Scherzando of his contemporary language and two recognizable literal quotations of the Aragonese Baroque guitarist Gaspar Sanz, which appear softly in an ironic and evocative loudness. Justino Losada wrote this review:Gioco, represents a continuous game of sonorities of very rich timbric nuances as well as an exacerbated game of frets (such as in its 3rd movement Scherzando), and abundant contemporary resources such as the microtonal vicinity of the detuned passages or the blows on the box for our interpreter to show of his skills, a task that although complicated he knows how to perform perfectly coming out of all difficulties. Rebullida's language is not simple, but the composer is clearly aware of the difficulties to reach a large audience, and to do so he polishes his language by seeking an exchange between modern and ancient sonorities in a continuous game creating a climate of warm and direct communication.
