Volume 2-Score with realisation of the basso continuo by Tonelli as well as Corelli’s unrealized figured bass line With a separate Urtext violin partWith a separate unrealized figured continuo partIncludes a supplement with violin embellishmentsAppendices in both volumes with source descriptions and critical commentariesPreludes for keyboard instrument by Tonelli in the appendix of volume 2Arcangelo Corelli the violin virtuoso of his time published his Sonatas for Violin and Basso continuo opus V in Rome in 1700. These sonatas are a compendium of violin playing of his time and laid the groundwork for future violin compositions. Over the years the sonatas have been published innearly 100 editions all based on Corelli’s first edition which contains only the solo violin line above an unrealized bass line. Today the sonatas are well known in numerous modern continuo realizations. However a realization from Corelli’s time by Antonio Tonelli also exists and is presented here for the first time in a modern performing edition. This realization is surprising in that it contains full chords sometimes played by both hands. In addition Bärenreiter’s new scholarly-critical edition includes for the first time many violin embellishments. For the most part they have been found in handwritten documents by Tartini Geminiani McGibbon Dubourg and Roger (from a re-print of the sonatas from c. 1710). These embellishments are presented in a separate booklet which players can place alongside Corelli’s original on the music stand. Complementing this Urtext edition are a historical introduction a critical commentary and an appendix containing preludes to the sonatas for keyboard by Tonelli.

Vol. 3: Piano:
Instrumental Work Piano solo Wiener Urtext
When Christa Landon presented the first printed version of her edition of Joseph...(+)
When Christa Landon presented the first printed version of her edition of Joseph Haydn's Piano sonatas Haydn's sonata oeuvre was still overshadowed by the works of Mozart and Beethoven. Since then Haydn's sonatas have progressed from the teaching rooms to the concert halls and Landon's edition has played a crucial role in that process. Since the Haydn anniversary in 2009 this 'legendary' edition has been thoroughly revised for over the course of more than forty years new sources have come to light. Questions of authenticity have also been resolved not least because the editorial principles for 18th-century music havechanged considerably. The new edition is published in four volumes the content of each volume being compatible with the volumes of the previous edition. Volume 3 of the new edition comprises the 17 sonatas Hob. XVI:21–32 and Hob. XVI:35–39 contained in Vol. 2 of the previous Wiener Urtext edition including popular works for music lessons such as Hob. XVI:27 35 and 37. In the Notes on Interpretation Robert D. Levin explains important aspects of Haydn's performance practice and with the help of numerous examples shows possibilities to embellish the pauses frequently used by Haydn.

Sonatas 1-12-As the foremost representative of Czech music in 18th-century Vienna Leopold Kozeluh (1747 -1818) was noted primarily as composer pianist and keyboard teacher. His 50 keyboard sonatas span his entire career and mark not only the transition from the harpsichord and clavichord manner to the fully idiomatic forte-piano style but also the development of the 'classical sonata' in the range of several decades (1773-1809).Until now pianists have had little chance to acquaint themselves with the complete range of Kozeluh's sonatas since few existed in modern editions. This new complete edition by Christopher Hogwood should present for the first time all of Kozeluh's sonatasfor keyboard solo. The project is divided into four volumes ranging chronologically through the published sets. Volume I contains 12 sonatas published in the years 1780-1784.The first complete edition of Kozeluh's Keyboard Sonatas planned into 4 volumesFills a blank in the repertoire of the Czech and Central-European classical repertoireSuitable for amateurs as well as professionals and ideal for teaching purposesDetailed Introduction (cz./ger./eng.)
