Concerto by Pierre Max Dubois is a piece of 18 minutes initially composed for an Alto Saxophone and a String Orchestra. These scores are for Saxophone and Piano. He studied in Vienna and Russia before settling in Athens where he became Director of the Athens Conservatoire. He produced more than two hundred pieces.

Written for intermediate players this first volume features five pieces which can be played along with the CD which includes the Piano part for each song. This composition begins with the Piano which is joined by the Alto Saxophone after two bars. It is divided into three main parts Andante Cantabile Listesso Tempo and Andante the third part is a replay of the first movement and finishes on a Piú Lento close. René Berthelot (1903-1999) was a French cellist conductor composer and musicologist. He composed numerous pieces especially for voices andchorals.

Gabriel Grovlez (1879-1944) studied under Gabriel Fauré at the Paris Conservatoire. His compositions proved to be extremely versatile from Operas and Ballets to solo works. Grovlez's Sarabande et Allegro is a sublime addition to the Alto Saxophone repertoire. Many of the composer's works show neo-classical features which is also the case in Sarabande et Allegro where the texture is predominantly melody-dominated homophony perfect cadences are frequently heard and modulations to related keys occur. Grovlez's F minor Sarabande is in a steady triple meter superbly contrasted by the fast Allegro composed in the relative major. All these features make for a thoroughly enjoyable and delightful performance!

Initially for Saxophone and Orchestra this edition of Élégie Et Rondeau by Karel Husa is for Saxophone and Piano and lasts 10 minutes. Written for advanced players this piece is dedicated to Sigurd M. Rascher. Divided into two very distinct sections the Elegy and the Rondeau the Elegy starts “Quasi improvisando” on a slow tempo (60) and requires some good technique as part of it relies on improvisation. The Rondeau “Allegretto” is also quite challenging and requires a mastering of breathing techniques. Élégie Et Rondeau is a perfect piece toplay for recitals. Karel Husa is a Czech-born conductor and composer who later became an American national. His work is mainly classical and he won the Pulitzer Prize for his contribution to music.

As the Saxophone is commonly associated with the jazz style classical music for the instrument had always been lacking and so when Paul Bonneau published his Concerto for Alto Saxophone in 1944 it was well-received by performers of the genre. Bonneau's composition was highly versatile ranging from over fifty film scores operettas songs and other pieces for Saxophone including this Concerto. Comprising three movements a typical performance lasts about fifteen minutes. Bonneau's Concerto for Alto Saxophone contains typically French characteristics includingchromaticism and difficult technical passages. All these elements combined make for an enjoyable and challenging piece for saxophonists.

Also as an expert on jazz the harmonies and rhythms of the composer's works reflect a huge diversity Carillon for Saxophone and Piano accompaniment being no exception. Ghidoni is significant within the contemporary French music school and his works are regularly chosen as set pieces for leading national and international competitions. Carillon reflects Ghidoni's mastery of a range of instruments adaptable to Soprano Alto or Tenor Saxophones. With a typical performancelasting about three minutes Carillon is an exciting addition to the beginner Saxophone repertoire.
