Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. Study score format 22. 5 x 16. 5cm Bach ’s Christmas Oratorio, composed in 1734, narrates the story of the birth of Jesus in a cycle of six cantatas with a text probably by Christian Friedrich Henrici (known as Picander) who provided several libretti for Bach during his Leipzig period. Like the St. Matthew and St. John Passions, the Christmas Oratorio is narrated by an Evangelist and includes devices from Italian opera such as the recitative and aria. It was written to be performed during the thirteen days of Christmas of the Lutheran Church calendar (25 December – 6 January) allowing the wondrous story of theGospel to gradually unfold. - Full score and performance material (BA5014), vocal score (BA5014-90) and study score (TP85) available for sale. - Urtext of the New Bach Edition. / Oratorio / Répertoire / Partition de Poche

Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. Long considered the noblest, most inspired musical treatment of the crucifixion of Christ, Bach's St. Matthew Passion remains an immensely popular work. First performed in the late 1720s, the great choral masterpiece was scored for a vast ensemble of double chorus, soloists, double orchestra and two organs. Richly dramatic and theatrical, its deeply moving story unfolds in recitatives, ariosos, arias, and majestic choral movements. Reproduced here from an authoritative early edition, the score appears with bar-numbered movements. Ideal for classroom or home study. / Musique religieuse / Répertoire / Partition de Poche

Par VIVALDI ANTONIO. One of the best known and loved collections of string music in history. The programmatic nature of the Four Seasons, based on the lines of sonnets printed along with the music, brings seasonal sights and sounds readily and delightfully to the ear: the bird calls in Spring, the swarms of wasps in Summer, the hunters' horns in Autumn, the winds and icy snow of Winter. Dr. Eleanor Selfridge-Field, a recognised authority on music of the Italian Baroque, has researched primary sources in Italy to prepare this specially commissioned, authoritative new edition./ Répertoire / Partition de Poche

Par HAENDEL GEORG FRIEDRICH. The conductor and Keyboard player Christopher Hogwood has edited the new edition of Music For The Royal Fireworks. The edition is the result of thorough revision and correction based on the source material. During this process, some incorrect notes were corrected, and in particular, the Viola part was revised. Misunderstood instructions from Handel relating to the colla parte coupling of the Viola with the second Oboe, as in the overture or with the bass parts, have been reassessed. Doubling with other parts resulted in passages, which were too high or too low: these have now been rectified and a part suited to the range of the viola has been madepossible. - New critical edition based on new sources. - Detailed Prefaces (Ger/Eng). - Urtext of the “Halle Handel Edition”. - Full score, performance material (BA4299) and study score (TP373) available for sale./ Répertoire / Partition de Poche
