POD-Hugh Wood's Ithaka for Violin Viola and Cello. Score. Inspired by C. P. Cavafy's poem this work was commissioned by the Florin Ensemble and generously supported by the Britten-PearsFoundation the RVW Trust and the Swaledale Festival which hosted the first performance at St. Andrew's Church Grinton on 2nd June 2016. The performers were Charles Mutter (Violin) Alastair Scahill (Viola) and Catherine Rimer(Cello).

These three pieces form a very short instrumental opera based on the life of James Reid a bagpiper in Prince Charlie's Jacobite army who was captured by the English in 1746 and executed after a judge had classified the bagpipes as a weapon. This piece is a string trio version of Sketches from a Bagpiper's Album (1984) for clarinet and piano scored for Violin Cello and Viola. Duration: c. 8 minutes. Score and parts included.

String Trios op. 3 8 and 9 and String Duo WoO 32-Comme on peut le déduire de leurs numéros d?opus les cinq trios à cordes sont des ?uvres relativement précoces. Beethoven fit imprimer l?opus 3 au début de l?année 1796 et commença à écrire la sérénade op. 8 au cours de la même année bientôt suivie par les trois trios op. 9. Par la suite Beethoven abandonna ce genre et n?y revint plus. Ces cinq pièces sont pourtant du pur Beethoven et continuent à être volontiers régulièrement jouées. Dans le même volume figure le morceau désigné dans le manuscrit autographe comme un «duo avec deux lunettes obligées» que Beethoven destinait manifestement à deux amis atteints de myopie.
