The Prelude in E minor, BWV 855a, features as No. 18 (Praeludium 5) in the 1720 Klavierbüchlein für Wilhelm Friedemann Bach. BWV 855a may also refer to both this Prelude and a Fughetta in the same key, an early version of BWV 855. Alexander Siloti made a piano arrangement in B minor of the Prelude BWV 855a.Ólafsson teamed up with director Magnús Leifsson to shoot the video in a fish processing plant in Iceland, complete with grand piano. They use the fish, an early Christian symbol, to allude to the mysticism and timelessness of Bach’s music – as changeable as water, it has to be understood at a metalevel, given the many different ways in which composition, transcription and performance can be interwoven. Everything is there in Bach’s music, says the pianist, who transports the composer’s keyboard writing to new shores on his latest recording. Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - SKU: A0.802564 Composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Contemporary. Score and parts. 17 pages. Peet du Toit #5793495. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802564). Sergei Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C-sharp minor, Op. 3, No. 2, is one of the composer's most famous compositions. Part of a set of five piano pieces entitled Morceaux de fantaisie, it is a 62-bar prelude in ternary (ABA) form. It is also known as The Bells of Moscow since the introduction seems to reproduce the Kremlin's most solemn carillon chimes. Its first performance was by the composer on 26 September 1892, at a festival called the Moscow Electrical Exhibition. After this première, a review of the concert singled out the Prelude, noting that it had aroused enthusiasm. From this point on, its popularity grew. This work was one of the first the 19‑year‑old Rachmaninoff composed as a Free Artist, after he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory on 29 May 1892. He performed this new work for the first time at one of the concerts of the Moscow Electrical Exhibition on 26 September 1892. It was printed the following year as the second of five Morceaux de fantaisie (Op. 3), all dedicated to Anton Arensky, his harmony teacher at the Conservatory. Because at the time Russia was not party to the 1886 Berne Convention, Russian publishers did not pay royalties, so the only financial return he ever received for this piece was a 40 ruble (about two months' wage of a factory worker) publishing fee.The prelude has been arranged for orchestra in several versions. It has been used in many films, and many songs have sampled it. I thought it would sound great on brass instruments if played well. Well, here it is for you to play well. Enjoy!

Easy Piano - Level 3 - SKU: A0.992805 Composed by Neil Boxall. Concert,Contemporary,Holiday. Score. 3 pages. Neil Boxall #3541063. Published by Neil Boxall (A0.992805). An original and completely NEW piece for the piano, never before published. 2mins approx in length. Great for showmanship. This is a semi-classical and dynamically mildly challenging piece that can be played to entertain, as an interlude or prelude or for an impromptu performance. It’s also useful as a piece to test the range and performance of an unfamiliar piano. Could be used for music study, sight-reading or for a grade piece (if selected). It starts in the scale of D harmonic minor harmonic then surprises with a switch to D major and teases with a potential modulation to A major that never quite happens as the G sharp is stubbornly avoided. The piece uses virtually the whole span of the keyboard and so shows off some flying hands (and a couple of cross hands for good measure). The pedal is used for good effect though this should become intuitive. The piece has some time signature changes that are involved in the effect of the piece and there is some subtle syncopation linked into that. The tempo starts on Andante but gradually increases in pace finishing on Allegro in the coda that contains a couple of sets of flourishing semi-quavers that can be made to mimic demi semis depending on the actual tempo adopted.Being a very expressive piece, there is scope to vary the dynamics and tempo to explore expressive possibilities. The piece was first performed in public to pilgrims whilst on a Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage in 2013 before it was put into manuscript.

Piano and Keyboard - Interactive Download SKU: A0.482538 Composed by J. Randolph Hall. This edition: Interactive Download. Classical. Score. 2 pages. Duration 96. Published by J. Randolph Hall (A0.482538). While my high school band director believed that minor keys sounded bad, my music theory prof said that minor keys afforded him more opportunity for harmonic colors. I was in a Baroque mood and I decided to experiment but you can be the judge of who is right. After having so much fun with my Prélude in c, I had to do another in the key of e. More colorful experiments are applied here. Again, this is a piece one can play on harpsichord or piano.

Instrumental Duet B-Flat Clarinet,Harp,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - SKU: A0.552194 Composed by Bach-Gounod. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Holiday,Standards,Wedding. Score and parts. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #6265157. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.552194). SchwenckeThere are two popular versions of the Bach-Gounod Ave Maria. Firstly, we have the version that faithfully follows the harmonic scheme set forth by J. S. Bach in his Prelude #1 in C Major from the Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1. Secondly, we have the arrangement introduced by the Choirmaster Christian Friedrich Gottlieb Schwencke in 1783 that introduces a controversial added measure designed to intensify the harmony in measure 23. Both versions employ the melody that Charles Gounod provided as an overlay to the Bach harmony. In either case, the convenient 1st & 2nd endings provide options for extended performance. The duration with the repeat runs about 4:50. The score is 7 pages long. This version features the Schwencke measure. Ave MariaAve Maria is a Catholic prayer that consequently asks for the mother of Jesus (Mary) to intercede. Charles Gounod composed a famous version of the Ave Maria. He was a French Romantic composer who overlaid a new melody on an existing Bach chord progression. This version, as well as Schubert’s version, have become essential items at weddings, masses, and funerals.Bach OverviewJohann Sebastian Bach was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy, though, are the St. John Passion, and certainly the Christmas Oratorio. Bach HistoryBach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer. Bach StyleIt seems like Bach created an engaging new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top.Bach Revival        Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV.

Https://www.michaelbarreraflute.com/shop/p/alla-marcia-orchestra-parts Program Notes Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Alla Marcia in g Minor is arguably one of his most popular pieces that is still played today. This prelude was included as number 5 in his Opus 23, a set of ten preludes for solo piano. Rachmaninoff himself premiered this prelude in Moscow in 1903, along with Preludes 1 and 2 from this set. It begins with quiet yet decisive sixteenth note figures setting the mood for a minor march. Following this, the relative major Eb comes in full force expanding this sixteenth note figure with a descant-like melody. After a return to g minor, the energy of the opening march dissipates as a new lyrical melody takes the forefront, accompanied by sweeping arpeggios. This section is much melancholier than before. As this theme fades, the march returns slowly out of the mist that the previous section created. It builds to the return of the Eb major section that leads into a continuation of the march theme. This fades into a quick rising figure to finish the prelude. This arrangement captures both the energy of the march and the beauty of the lyrical middle section. Instrumentation 2 Flutes 2 Oboes 2 Clarinets (B flat) 2 Bassoons 4 Horns (F) 3 Trumpets (B flat) 2 Trombones 1 Bass Trombone 1 Tuba Timpani Snare Drum Tambourine Harp (substitute piano if necessary) Violins I and II Viola Violincello Double Bass.

It was written in 1892 when he was only 19, and became such a success that he could never leave a concert platform without being expected to play it as an encore. It was dedicated to Rachmaninoff's harmony teacher at the Moscow Conservatoire, Arensky, and forms one of the set of five pieces entitled 'Morceaux de fantasie'. Here it has been rearranged so that all the notes can be played by those with small hands.

Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7265). Key: A minor.Only three pieces within his comprehensive oeuvre were written by Françaix for this instrument. The French composer felt much more connected with the harp, a typical French instrument. The Prélude, published here for the first time, was composed in 1956 and is a marvellous, rather easy-to-play piece of music with its smooth flow of arpeggios. The disguising of the key, A Minor, that is characteristic of Françaix, evokes the Impressionist tone colours of the composer's great predecessors.

Score and parts. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #702355. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1098499). Score: 6 pages. Duration: ca. 2:30. The famous Pachelbel Canon arranged for Bass Flute & Harp. A great choice for weddings & receptions! Pachelbel's Canon Pachelbel's Canon is, in fact, the traditional title for a composition by the German composer Johann Pachelbel. Other names for the work include namely: Canon and Gigue for 3 violins and basso continuo, Canon and Gigue in D, and of course Canon in D. We do not know when or why in particular it was written. The oldest copy is surprisingly from the 19th century. It is important to realize that it was a common routine for organists to practice improvisation on the chord progression underlying the canon. Pachelbel originally scored the Canon notably for three violins and continuo. He also in fact paired the Canon with a gigue. The movements are homotonal, to clarify, both are in the key of D major. History In due time, Pachelbel's Canon went out of style and remained in virtual oblivion for centuries. The Jean-François Paillard chamber orchestra, however, recorded an arrangement of it in 1968. As a result, it gained approval. Many ensembles began likewise to record the piece in the 1970s and by the 1980s became ubiquitous as background music. From the 1970s to the early 2000s, pop songs correspondingly used elements of the piece. The chord progression, in particular, was used this way. Also, since the 1980s, it has been not only wildly popular for weddings, but also for funeral ceremonies in the USA and Europe. Pachelbel Background Johann Pachelbel (1653 –1706) was a German composer, as well as an organist. He was furthermore instrumental in bringing the south German organ school to its apex. He wrote a large body of music, both sacred and, equally important, secular. In particular, he uniquely helped develop the chorale prelude and fugue. For this, he has, in fact, earned a rightful place in the company of the most significant composers of the mid-Baroque period. Works Pachelbel's music was certainly popular. With this in mind, he also consequently had many pupils. His music expressly developed into a model for south German composers. Nowadays, Pachelbel is most famous, particularly for the Canon in D, as well as the F minor Chaconne, the Toccata in E minor, and of course the Hexachordum Apollinis, a set of variations for the keyboard. Influences Johann Jakob Froberger and Johann Caspar Kerll were south German composers who significantly influenced Pachelbel. Furthermore, he was especially influenced by Italians such as Frescobaldi and Poglietti. He frequently preferred an articulate, simple contrapuntal style that highlighted clarity. His music is markedly less extravagant and harmonically adventurous than that of Dieterich Buxtehude. However, as a point often overlooked, like Buxtehude, Pachelbel experimented with different instrumental combinations in his chamber music. Legacy All in all, Pachelbel was most famous as a composer for the keyboard. He composed over two hundred pieces specifically for the instrument. Pachelbel was also surprisingly a prolific composer of vocal music. All in all, about a hundred vocal works survive, including 40 or so large-scale works.
