Instrumental Solo - Level 4 - SKU: A0.596423 Composed by Daniel Hay. Classical,Contemporary. Individual part. 4 pages. Daniel Hay Music #5741681. Published by Daniel Hay Music (A0.596423). The Blue Ridge Water Music (Opus 317) is in four movements: Dam Flow, Long Falls, Gurgle Pools, and Falling Creek. It was originally composed for the recorder by composer Daniel Hay. He plays recorders and cello so most solo pieces are provided in both treble and bass clef. This composition was inspired by visiting some of the 250 waterfalls in Transylvania County, South Carolina. (Note: the audio provided is voiced in cello but is computer generated and does not pause between movements. The computer also misread the intent of the fermata marks.) The first two movements are playable by intermediate players while the last two movements probably require an advanced-intermediate player.).

Contemporary. Brass Band. 58 pages. Lyons Music Services #3409907. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767302). An original march dedicated to The Eagley Band, with whom I have a very long associationThe opening section is quite chaotic, as the eagles flap their wings and get ready for take-off. Then they are off with a run and a leap and we hear the first theme, a martial tune in the solo euphonium, with fanfare-like interjections on the cornets. At letter B, the tune is expanded to encompass the other sections of the band. Then at letter C, a new idea is introduced which has little obbligato tweets from the soprano and repieno on the repeat. The bass solo continues the military idea with aggressive fanfare interjections over the bass melody. The trio changes style completely and should be played as lightly and delicately as possible. The leaps on baritone and trombones should be clear and well articulated but should fit into the general texture rather than stick out abruptly. At letter G, the grace notes should be played by only one player in each section to avoid sounding like clucking chickens. The grace notes should be extremely light.

Small Ensemble,Strings Alto Saxophone - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1043322 By Joe Cocker. By Billy Preston and Bruce Fisher. Arranged by Kevin Riley. 20th Century,Pop. Score and parts. 8 pages. Kevin Riley #648012. Published by Kevin Riley (A0.1043322). You Are So Beautiful is a song written by Billy Preston and Bruce Fisher that was first released in 1974 on Preston's ninth studio album, The Kids & Me. It was also the B-side of his single Struttin'. Later that same year, English singer Joe Cocker released a slower version of the song on his album I Can Stand a Little Rain. Cocker's version was produced by Jim Price, and released as a single in November 1974. It became Cocker's highest charting solo hit, peaking at number five on the United States' Billboard Hot 100 (Cocker's biggest hit on the pop chart was Up Where We Belong, a duet with Jennifer Warnes from the 1982 film An Officer And A Gentleman, which reached number 1), and at number four on Canada's Top Singles chart. Some sources credit Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys with contributing to the song's genesis. Wilson performed the song live with the Beach Boys from the late 1970s onwards. Kenny Rankin, Ray Stevens, Kenny Rogers, Bonnie Tyler and Brian Kennedy are also among the artists who have covered You Are So Beautiful. The song has also been featured in numerous movies, television shows, and ads.

Individual part. 17 pages. Jordan Morrison Music #975381. Published by Jordan Morrison Music (A0.1391893). This is a multiple percussion solo that is a choose your own adventure musical expedition. You can read the description from the performance notes below and be sure to check out the preview photos to see how this adventure looks along the way.Description: The Paths We Take is a musical reflection on the choices we make in life. One choice leads to another choice and dictates a path. As the piece moves towards an ending, the performer matures and is allowed to make more choices (ex: dynamics, accents, tempo). The section markers Child, Youth, Adult, and Elder should be considered as style indications and a suggested mindset. Instrumentation is left up to the performer so long as the instruments have a skin or plastic head. The bottom notes should be played with a foot pedal.Feel free to connect with me on Instagram @jordan.morrison.music.

Score and parts. 55 pages. Aaron Hettinga #6019665. Published by Aaron Hettinga (A0.781976). A joyous tune celebrating brotherhood and unity from Rob Thomas, with a full Big Band behind it! The form of the original recording is closely followed but has a little extended tag/playout and a few extra horn licks here and there. The Rhythm/Lead/Vocal sheet contains chord changes and rhythm section cues throughout.Performance options: As mentioned, with an extended outro, there are numerous opportunities to make cuts if not intending for this to run so long. The On and on tag could even be bypassed by jumping ahead to the Final Chorus rather than going back to the DS.An optional violin part is included but it mostly doubles other instrumental lines throughout.

Masquerade Music #966699. Published by Masquerade Music (A0.1382169). Published in February 2024, this delightful SATBB recorder quintet brings a refreshing new edition to ensemble repertoire lists. The three movement work (7'20 long total duration) was inspired by the mighty oak tree (Derwen in Welsh) and journeys on an exploration through roots, branches and leaves.Derwen is aimed at confident intermediate to advanced ensembles due to (sometimes) frequently changing time signatures and some more technically challenging phrases but also brings with it beautiful harmonies and changing moods.A note from the composer: The title of this piece, Derwen, is the Welsh word for an oak tree. Trees are traditional symbols of physical and spiritual nourishment or growth, with the oak in particular representing strength and longevity. This seemed to be a fitting inspiration for a commission born out of a long-standing musical collaboration and friendship, and so became the starting point for the composition. The piece begins with a simple melody in the lower voices (the ‘roots’) and gradually builds up the texture. The second movement explores the idea of intertwining branches, reaching higher and higher towards the sky. Finally, an off-balance rhythm in the final movement brings to mind the swirling and falling of leaves, eventually combining with elements from the first two movements to bring the piece full circle. Please view several samples and a full Youtube video (of the complete Sonata) by scrolling through the images. You will receive with this purchase; PDF Recorder parts (soprano/alto/tenor/bass 1/bass 2) PDF Score Derwen is also available as a traditional printed/posted edition, available here: Click here for the printed/posted edition

Soprano voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - SKU: A0.854332 Composed by Melanie B. Guerin. Broadway,Contemporary,Musical/Show. 7 pages. Melanie B Guerin #6110663. Published by Melanie B Guerin (A0.854332). Comedic song for a soprano who has decided this is no time to be nice! This is an uptempo song with some challenging modulations and a wide range (G3-B5), but a catchy tune and lyrics that poke fun of the belligerence of modern society. The world today’s gone mad, they say,And I feel it’s a fitting rebuke,No sooner you’re meeting a stranger,Than he’s telling you Put up your dukes, There’s no longer a role for a peaceful soul,When you’re caught between muscle and might,If you’re gonna get through,There’s just one thing to do,So you take a deep breath,And you join in the fight! Hit ‘em again,If it’s rough, make it rougher,Someone’s gotta suffer,But you’ll be the one who survives,When they’re aiming to give you the worst,You can beat ‘em by hitting ‘em first! Then hit ‘em again,Hit ‘em again,Hit ‘em again. Hit ‘em again,Make it long, make it lasting,They’re practically askingFor a pummeling right in the puss,They’ll remember how right you areWhen you leave ‘em a permanent scar,Hit ‘em again,Hit ‘em again,Hit ‘em again. A swine who would sooner cut you than concede,But he won’t look half as tough when his nose is bleeding,You can spout your facts and figures but eventually you findIt’s better to make him have to change his pants than change his mind. Hit him again,Make him dance, make him dizzy,Sure it’s brutal, but is heNot a villain deserving of grief? He’s a louse and unless I’m mistook,All his geese should be thoroughly cooked! So hit him again,And then… Hit him again,Make him shake, make him shudder,When he’s starting to sputter,It’s then you go in for the kill,Leave him all in a heap on the pitch,‘Til he’s crying like some little bitch!Hit him again,Hit him again,Hit him again, and then again!

From the Composer:I committed last year (2022) to review my musical works that have been in digital storage, complete them as necessary, and release them for the world to hear. I finally finished my first work on this list, one that's been on my hard drive in one version or another since 1999 (that's 24 whole years!).Las Follias de España (which despite its name, originally came from Portugal) is a chord progression usually in either D minor or G minor in the form of i-V-i-VII-III-VII-i-V. Composers for the last 500 years have used this chord progression to come up with some fantastic theme and variations, ranging from unaccompanied works, trio sonatas, to even full orchestral implementations. You can spend a looooong time listening to all the beautiful compositions that composers have made over the centuries highlighting this very captivating set of chords.I humbly submit my own version of La Folia in D minor for String Trio and Cembalo (harpsichord). I wrote my first version of this in my senior year of High School as a challenge to myself to write music in a genre I loved. I made updates here and there over the years, but its sat on a hard drive the entire time. It's taken me months to essentially rework it to my satisfaction and has been submitted for copyright. I have uploaded it to YouTube to share with others.BIG SHOUT OUTS to the three composers that inspired me in this work:Corelli: - His version of La Folia is probably the most popular for violinists, especially those that play out of the Suzuki books. I included a modified version of his Folia (Variation 9) in my work (with all other parts being vastly different from his interpretation) as an homage to his work.J.S. Bach - He showed me that music can be as intelligent as it is beautiful. I have two variations inspired by his work. Variation 8 is one that I wrote this year (2023) which I wanted to write for a long time is a variation that showcases the Harpsichord. Bach's keyboard works and unaccompanied violin works inspired me here. Second, Variation 14 I feel has Bach's inspiration all over it. The violin parts are each playing separate distinct melodies in double counterpoint which trade parts on the repeat. The bass line follows a pattern that Bach has employed for the bass on a number of Violin concertos and lastly, the Harpsichord treble part is a mensuration canon based on one of the violin parts, with the keyboard part playing the melody 4x as fast with variations. Lastly on a play of numbers, number 14 was a very special number for Bach, and as a tribute, I've made this the 14th variation in my work. This was also a new variation I added this year (2023) as well.Vivaldi - My first musical love. I feel that I captured a little bit of his musical DNA in all my works and this piece showcases this. Vivaldi's works is what made me fall in love with Baroque music and I am indebted to him for the profound impact his works have had on my life.So here you go. 413 measures. My longest individual work to date. And because I love playing with numbers, I decided to release this to the world on my 41st Year, 3rd month. Enjoy!- Jose Bravo.

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 4 - SKU: A0.797762 By Fleetwood Mac. By Christine Mcvie. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Pop,Rock. Score and parts. 31 pages. Derek Hasted #5205403. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797762). SAY YOU LOVE ME (Fleetwood Mac) - FOUR GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This is a real crowd-pleaser that will suit any informal concert. My arrangement of 'Say You Love Me' is faithful to the Fleetwood Mac original in both the key and the number of sections that it contains. The piece closes with a final chord instead of a long fade out, but it's a big piece with a big sound and it runs for nearly four minutes at the recommended tempo. There are two bass parts in this edition - one in treble clef and one in bass clef...The arrangement works well with 4 guitars, but a larger ensemble will find it easy to get much more drive and power! In a large ensemble, the syncopated rhythms need to be tight and accurate if they are to provide a compelling rhythmic support to the tune. It’s worth mentioning that the name Fleetwood Mac derives from the group’s founder, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie (Mac), their bass player. Why tell you that? Because the Guitar 4 part is a close representation to the original bass line played by John McVie, and what a fantastic bass line it is! The two bass parts (treble clef and bass clef) are identical and between them, they suit guitar, contrabass guitar, electric bass or double bass. For a fuller sound in a large ensemble, one can place a guitar or two alongside a bass instrument. The standard across the parts varies from intermediate to advanced intermediate, so it's great for an ensemble of mixed abilities.I hope you enjoy this piece!

Guitar - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1434489 By Metallica. By James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Pop,Rock. 21 pages. Derek Hasted #1014651. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1434489). NOTHING ELSE MATTERS (Metallica) - 3 GUITARS or LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical Guitar primarily - also suits Acoustic Guitar or Electric GuitarDerek Hasted writes This is an astonishing piece - hypnotically repetitive, yet full of contrasts, big builds and a reflecting ending. And well-known to so, so many people. My arrangement for 3 guitars is somewhere between intermediate (for Guitars 1 & 3) and advanced intermediate (Guitar 2), and will also suit a large ensemble.Guitar 1 is the tune, and Guitar 3 provides the countermelodies. Both are 3 pages long, and a bit of sticky tape to the joins will ensure they fit a normal music stand with no page turns.Guitar 2 (the electric guitar part) is 4 pages, but I have placed open strings and then a bar’s rest at the foot of the page to allow plenty of time for page turns. On a classical guitar we can’t bend the top string by a semitone, so my arrangement uses slurs to make a very acceptable alternative (and a couple of bars have yet more alternatives in the score). The full 6 minutes of the original is here, in the same key, using a variety of textures that help to capture the build-up and decay of the original.I hope you enjoy playing this piece! This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by number of instruments, with links to soundclips and sample score.

Duration 212. Antonello Rizzella #718266. Published by Antonello Rizzella (A0.1116611). Composing this work I considered a priority the expressiveness and emphasis that the choir's voices can give the text of the Nunc dimittis: the sigh of an old man who after so much waiting sees his Lord! The prophecy that becomes reality! A lot of patience spent for the long wait that then becomes breath acce- lerated with emotion and then Light. The splendor of the child, of the King of Israel but also the Light that a by now old Simeone begins to yearn to see at the end of his long life. The language deliberately alternates different stylistic features with one true goal: to exalt the Word, make it vibrate with expressiveness.

We sit and we ponder of times long ago. Dear Joseph and Mary, the babe who didst lay All wrapped in those swaddling clothes on the nice, soft hay. Could shepherds or wise men, or worldly king Relate the great blessings this Christ Child would bring? Eternal the joy of our Father's great plan To offer His own son, the Savior of man. How grateful we feel as we look at the year, And ponder the blessings amidst Christmas cheer. As the lights glow with beauty so bright in the snow, we will always remember the birth long ago. Published by Tiger Music (A0.750374). Pura Alegria Brass Sextet and Keyboard 3 Trumpets, 3 Trombones and Keyboard Composed for the Stirling High School Brass Ensemble, in East London, South Africa MBR 3430 By Eddie Lewis Spice up your brass program with this Latin tinged composition for three trumpets, three trombones and keyboard. Pura Alegria is one of Eddie Lewis’ en clave compositions, where every rhythm from every phrase in the piece is derived from the clave. The clave is a rhythm from west Africa that came to the tropical islands with the slaves. From there, hundreds of years later, the rhythm became the underlying groove for a number of modern Latin dance music styles. Eddie Lewis was exposed to the clave rhythms during a period of twenty years when he was making his living primarily as a salsa trumpet player. While Eddie’s compositions are not salsa, his writing has been forever influenced by that music and the people. And that influence is not limited to only the rhythms. We are only emphasizing the rhythms here because of the prominence of the clave in Pura Alegria. Stirling High School, East London, South Africa Eddie composed Pura Alegria for the students in the brass ensemble at Stirling High School in East London, South Africa. The students prepared it as part of a presentation and Eddie was honored to contribute something for them to work on and perform. The request came from Eddie’s good friend, Leonard Brandt. Leonard is a professional trumpet player in South Africa and also teaches applied brass at the high school. When Eddie was in South Africa for the jazz festival in Grahamstown (2016), Leonard arranged a personal performance of Pura Alegria for him in one of the empty classrooms. The composition was a smashing success and the students and the audience all enjoyed it! Skill Level When Eddie does a commission, he goes to great lengths to map out the skills of the individual players. Often times, his method’s skill levels don’t apply. Please keep in mind that skill levels in published music are not about how good the students are. Students will always have mixed skill sets. That’s part of what it means to be human. We are good at some things and bad at others. So the skills of the individual parts in Pura Alegria are varied, not only from part to part, but from skill to skill. That said, the highest note in the first trumpet part is written high C, and the rhythms are syncopated (because of the clave influence). We would put most of that first part in our Trumpet Pro skill level. The highest note in the second part is written A above the staff. The highest note in the third trumpet part is top line F. Practice Recommendations Pay special attention to the articulations, which can feel a little awkward, but really make the piece. Sometimes the eighth-notes are long and the quarter-notes are short. Other times the quarter-notes are long and the eighth-notes are short. Also be careful with the dynamics. There will be a tendency to play the entire piece too loud. Because it feels like that kind of piece. However, if you play it that way, it will ruin some of the compositional effects. This is especially true for the keyboard. If you are performing with a keyboard, not an acoustic piano, then what’s the amplification that it doesn’t bury the rest of the ensemble. You cannot have the keyboard set to the same volume as you would for a full jazz ensemble class. Other than that, have fun with this piece. The name, Pura Alegria, in English means Pure Joy! The rhythms are delightful and the melodies are infectious.

CHORAL SCORE***FULL SCORE and INSTRUMENTAL PARTS SOLD SEPARATELY***Nebraska, My Heartland was written to not only celebrate 150 years of Nebraskan history, but to express my own gratitude for all that the Midwestern way of life has to offer. It celebrates the natural beauty of the Sandhills, prairies, forests, and bluffs, along with the strength of its people, its flourishing family friendly communities, and its deep and rich traditions in the arts. I have lived near mountains, near oceans, and visited some of the most beautiful places in the world, but none of those places have ever felt as much like home as Nebraska. Nebraska, My Heartland incorporates the poetry of both Willa Cather, the famous Nebraskan poet and writer who helped the rest of America gain an appreciation for the pioneer life, and Veronica Torraca-Bragdon, a contemporary poet and friend whose heart will always belong to Nebraska. Cather’s poem, Prairie Spring was chosen because it vividly portrays the struggles of the pioneers who originally settled here, yet juxtaposes this struggle with youthful determination, and the optimism and enthusiasm brought about by hope. Veronica’s poem, titled Nebraska, is the centerpiece for the fanfare and celebration of a state that abounds with success in all of the ways that make Nebraska a great place to live. The music begins as the sun is about to rise and burst forth with the promise of a new day. It speaks of Nebraska’s natural beauty and landscapes while the sweet song of the Western Meadowlark, our state bird, drifts on the wind. Next, the changing seasons and thriving spirit of Nebraska’s people are portrayed with an energetic, youthful melody leading into a celebratory sesquicentennial fanfare. But as the seasons change, the listener is reminded that to thrive is also to persevere, and soon a storm begins to loom. First the rolling thunder, then the rain, and finally the full devastation of nature’s fury are realized by the combined forces of both ensembles. Yet, as hope springs eternal, we are reminded again of the strength of the pioneer and the roots that keep us anchored against the storm. Out of this resilience bursts forth a brilliant light signifying the future that is before us for this generation and the next, ending with words that summarize so eloquently how Nebraskans feel about their home: With loving beauty, you’ll forever shine!INSTRUMENTATION1 Piccolo2 Flute 12 Flute 22 Flute 31 Oboe 11 Oboe 21 Bassoon 11 Bassoon 24 Bb Clarinet 14 Bb Clarinet 24 Bb Clarinet 32 Bb Bass Clarinet1 Eb Alto Saxophone 11 Eb Alto Saxophone 21 Bb Tenor Saxophone1 Eb Baritone Saxophone 3 Bb Trumpet 1 3 Bb Trumpet 2 3 Bb Trumpet 3 3 Bb Trumpet 4 1 F Horn 1 1 F Horn 2 1 F Horn 3 1 F Horn 42 Trombone 12 Trombone 22 Bass trombone3 Euphonium B.C. / Baritone T.C. 6 Tuba 1 Timpani (4 drums) 5 PERCUSSIONSuspended CymbalCrash Cymbal,Wind Chimes,Orchestral Chimes,Snare Drum (3 if available), Bass Drum, *Wind Machine (optional),*Suspended Thundersheet (as available), *Large Timpani Drumhead 1 PITCHED PERCUSSION Glockenspiel,Marimba SATB & Rehearsal PianoTo learn more about the composer, please visit https://www.dmgardner.com

I was still learning music and hadn’t graduated yet from my second teacher which is why I think I take so much pride in this piece. I composed it ahead of my time (as all my other compositions to that point weren’t much of anything, save for my C Minor Waltz [also available on SMP Press for purchase]) and its still one I very much enjoy listening to. I composed this piece deaf so to speak, as I wrote it without having actually played it at all. This was genuine inspiration and took a long time to get it all down. I hope you enjoy playing this great trio.Check out my other works if you enjoy this one and spread the word and leave a review!

Woodwind Ensemble Contrabassoon - Level 4 - SKU: A0.1110862 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 28 pages. Regis Bookshar #713157. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1110862). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Bassoon Sextet - Advanced/Intermediate - . Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Bassoon Sextet, consisting of 5 Bassoons and 1 Contrabassoon, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long, sustained phrases, and also to give them the chance to play this beautiful composition, something which they may not have had the opportunity to do, otherwise. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (28 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions. The Recordare is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful compositions in Mozart's entire catalogue. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a Bassoon Sextet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may fine something else which may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Mozart's Recordare, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.
