These Three Studies for Four-handed Piano were conceived of as a triptych whose unifying principles were to be the first-slow-fast movement order of the classical sonata and a symmetrical arrangement of tonalities with A major occupying the centre (F minor- A major- C minor). The term Studies alludes not so much to the 19th century pedagogical concept of pieces-as-exercises, as to an attempt to extend, investigate and study the possibilities of expression and texture of the piano for four hands. The First Study is generated out of a single rhythmical motif whose development is modified by the intervention of two contrapuntual passages. A certain difficulty of execution arising from the need to cross hands in both sections of the keyboard conforms, in this case, to the traditional definition of study as an exercise focussed on a specific technical problem. The second piece might be defined as a study of expression, being the explicit disposition of an ostinato accompaniment and two superior voices in conversation. I cannot help, listening to this study, being reminded of the texture of the slow Largo of Bach's Concerto for 2 violins and the manifest pathos of the Andante of Prokofiev's 2nd Violin Concerto. The Third Study is an exercise in rhythmical interpenetration in which continual changes of accentuation and metre are combined with passages of a light and mellifluous character. It is a long-standing ambition of mine to supplement this work with three more triptychs and, so, complete a set of twelve studies for four-handed piano.

“With very few studies exisiting for the Snare Drum, Keiskleiriana 2 fills a very large gap. Deriving from orchestral Snare Drum parts, these Delécluse studies have been developed to cover aspects such as technical and rhythmical difficulties. Keiskleiriana 2 is compiled by Jacques Delécluse, a French percussionist and composer. For many years, Delécluse has been a soloist in the Orchestre de Paris and more recently, founded an ensemble of Keyboard percussion instruments which bear his name. As an experienced percussionist himself, and with much invaluable experience, Delécluse's Keisleiriana 2 for Snare Drum is well-informed and essential to aspiring percussion players.”.

These duet studies are intended as a companion volume and as additional exercises to the method 'Cello mit Spass und Hugo', but they are equally well suited as complementary material to any other course of study. Each piece tackles a clearly defined technical or tonal task, yet they are meant to be fun and useful additional to the chamber music repertoire in their own right. Initially the upper part is intended for the pupil, the lower one for the teacher. But as both parts are comparatively equal, they could also be attempted by two pupils. For group tuition it is suggested to introduce a couple of rhythmical accompanying parts.

Composer Otto M. Schwarz completed his first Concerto for trumpet in October 2009. Schwarz displays a special knack in writing for this instrument, thanks to his trumpet studies undertaken with Professor Josef Pomberger at the Music Conservatory in Vienna. Concerto for Trumpet No. 1 'Trumpet Town' was commissioned by the police-orchestra of Upper Austria, under the baton of Andreas Schwarzenlander. The work was premiered on 17 November 2009. The soloist for the evening was trumpeter Franz Wagnermeyer, who also studied at the Vienna Conservatory and who currently performs with, amongst others, the international group “Ten of the Best”. A rapid flourish in 12/8 time opens Concerto for Trumpet No. 1 'Trumpet Town'. The metric changes that follow affect the pulse rhythmically and melodically, in exciting and unexpected ways. The solo trumpet's displays of technical prowess and bravura alternate with the film-score-like tutti sections of the brass ensemble. The slow, almost elegiac, central section can be performed on the flugel horn, while the closing reprise demands that both the soloist and the orchestra give of their best as the piece comes to an exciting, colourful, and uplifting finale. This piece is also available for trumpet and piano.
