Sadie Harrison's A Not-So-Sonatine for Double Bass and Piano. Composed in 2013 and revised and published in 2016. Duration: 10 minutes.A Not-So-Sonatine is so called as it is rather more than a sonatine being uncharacteristically virtuosic for both Double Bass and Piano. This is a light-hearted piece which references the plethora of accessible mid-twentieth century sonatines with delight! The second movement is also known as Josie’s Piece premiered by Josie Jobbins in 2014 at the Taunton Young Musician of the Year Final. Par HAHN. Composed by Reynaldo Hahn, Sonatine En Ut Majeur (1907) is a piece for Piano for intermediate players. This really melodious piece is divided in three main movements. 1. Allegro Moderato in C The main theme starts the piece with an accent on the tonic arpeggio. Counterpoint principle is also used thanks to a canon in two measures. 2. Andantino Rubato in G Written in the form ABA, this movement is then continued by four variations of the theme. 3. Final in G The piece ends on a coda with harmonious arpeggios, played after a ternary dance. Reynaldo Hahn was a naturalised French composer, conductor, theatre director and singer. As the title suggests this Sonatine by Alexandre Tchérepnin attempts to adapt the music to the surprise elements of sports. The Pianist in the first movement is portrayed as being 'defensive' while the Bassoon soloist is considered to be attacking the Piano much like Boxing. Movement two named Half-Time represents the rest that two players would be taking in the midst of a competition. Finally movement three - Race is in the form of a canon. The Bassoonist leads the race while the Pianist gradually closes the gap.

First performed in 1979 by Robert Winn. The first of the three movements is tense building from the depths of the piano. The middle movement evocative using slow glissandi in the bottom octave of the flute and the last movement is a naughty bi-tonal rondo. Duration: 7 - 8 minutes. Typeset and re-printed in 2010 on the occasion of the composer's 50th birthday. This was the very first work to be published by Spartan Press Music Publishers Limited in a 'low budget' facsimile format over twenty years ago in 1990.

Despite his studies being interrupted by WWI Jacques Ibert won the Grand Prix de Rome at his first attempt proving his significant compositional ability such as his Jeux - Sonatine For Flute (Or Violin) And Piano. 2 Trompettes Ut-Cor-Trombone-Tuba-Ption Et Pties-Having won many prizes at the Paris Conservatoire during the 1920s-1930s Eugène Bozza went on to conduct the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and to become Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes. As a major figure on the classical music frontline Bozza's compositions were well-received by audiences Sonatina for Two Trumpets 1 Cornet 1 Trombone and 1 Tuba being no exception.
