Six Sonatas for Violin and Viola Hob. VI:1?6-The title ?Solo per il Violino? which Haydn gave these sonatas in his ?Entwurf-Katalog? (the handwritten catalogue he maintained of his own works) already gives us an indication: it is only the Violinwhich is treated as a solo instrument in these six sonatas the Viola has an accompanying role. Haydn might have written these ?soli? for himself; but they also might have been for Luigi Tomasini the ?first violinist? atEsterházy?s court. Today these duos enjoy great popularity particularly for teaching purposes. Orsola, in Novara, Italy. A very prolific composer, Leonarda published nearly 200 compositions during her long life. Most of these are sacred vocal works, but in 1693 she published her Sonate à 1.2.3. e 4. Istromenti, a collection comprising twelve sonatas, eleven for two violins, violone, and continuo, and one solo sonata for violin and continuo. These are the first sonatas published by a woman. Baroque Violin Pieces is a four-volume graded anthology which acts as an introduction to the style and repertoire of Baroque music for solo Violin and Continuo. The editor's aim has been to select immediately attractive pieces which are at the same time of educational value in style and technique. The contents of each volume are arranged roughly in order of difficulty. The pieces in this volume book4 are of Grade 8 standard and above. This Sonata for Solo Violin was completed in March 1944 and was Bartok’s penultimate work. It was composed for Yehudi Menuhin who gave the first performance in New York on 26th November 1944. At this time more than any other Bartok was writing less complex more minimal rhythms which served to highlight his glorious melodies. Typically for Bartok this is a satisfying if serious and solemn work but one that will delight with its virtuosic elements and interesting melodic movements.

Sonata in F major TWV 41:F4 - Sonata in A major TWV 41:A6-These three editions (BA 5880 BA 5889 BA 5890) each comprising two solo sonatas with basso continuo are all taken from Telemann’s famous Essercizii musici; a collection of 24 sonatas including 12 solo sonatas and 12 trio sonatas. These were moulded after Corelli’s Sonata da Chiesa and have four movements: slow-fast-slow-fast. The sonatas long thought to stem from the late 1730s are now believed to have first been published by the composer in approx. 1729.
