The B Flat Morning and Evening Service and Office for the Holy Communion was composed while Stanford was Organist and Master of the Choristers of Trinity College Cambridge and was already established as a composer and the energetic conductor of the Cambridge University Musical Society. It is for his church music that Stanford is best remembered and this first offering demonstrates his gifts very well.Charles Villiers Stanford was an Irish composer music teacher and conductor who was a founder of the Royal Academy of Music teaching composition to some of the greatest British composers of the twentieth century among them Gustav Holst and Ralph Vaughan Williams. His own composition always displayed technical mastery and for a while he was a great figure in the world of British musical theatre.

The Souls Of The Righteous is an anthem for SATB choir with an Organ reduction provided for rehearsal purposes. It takes its text from the Old Testament book of Wisdom. Sir George Elvey (1816-1893) was a British organist and composer. He was a chorister at Canterbury Cathedral and New College Oxford before studying at the Royal Academy of Music. Such was his skill he became Organist at St George’s Chapel Windsor at the age of just nineteen having been offered the post in preference to far more experienced candidates such as Samuel Wesley. He wrote prolifically for the Chapel creating many works that were only performed once andhave now been lost. Best remembered are his hymn tunes oratorios and anthems.

The Promise Which Was Made Unto The Fathers is an anthem for Easter. First published in 1903 it is scored for SATB Choir with Organ accompaniment. It takes its text from passages of the Book of Acts The Song of Solomon and Psalm 145.Edward Bairstow (1874-1946) was a British composer organist and conductor. He studied under Frederick Bridge at Westminster Abbey and later became Organist at York Minster and Professor of Music at the University of Durham. He is best remembered for his settings of the Anglican liturgy as well as anthems such as Blessed City Heavenly Salem and Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence.

An arrangement of Edward Elgar's simple and poignant setting of Laurence Binyon's poem 'For The Fallen' taken from his cantata 'With Proud Thanksgiving'. This piece for SATB is suitable for Remembrance Sunday and concerts and memorial services. In the December 2014 edition of Organists' Review Christopher Maxim called this 'a little gem that deserves to become a standard.'

Christ The Lord Hath Risen is an anthem for Eastertide. It is scored for Unison Voices Chorus (ad lib) and Organ and takes its text from a 12th Century English carol.Craig Seller Lang (1891-1971) was a British composer organist and musical pedagogue who was born in New Zealand. He studied at the Royal College of Music before becoming a teacher at Christ’s Hospital School. His compositions were mostly written with a student performer in mind. He is best remembered for his seminal educational Organ books but he also created prolific volumes of material in both sacred and secular choral genres.

Celebrate HM The Queen's 90th Birthday with your choir Sing Judith Weir's special new choral piece I Love All Beauteous Things Master of the Queen's Music, Judith Weir, has been commissioned by St Paul's Cathedral in London to write a piece for SATB choir and organ in celebration of HM The Queen's 90th birthday in 2016. The piece is now available from Chester Music, so that choirs all over the world can join in with the festivities. Churches and other local organisations are planning events on Sunday 12th June and many may want to include this approachable setting of Robert Bridges' poem. Directed by Andrew Carwood, the St Paul's Cathedral Choir will perform I love all beauteous things as part of the National Service of Thanksgiving which will take place on at 11am on 10 June in the presence of HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. At the service the Archbishop of Canterbury will give the address and the Prime Minister will read a lesson. The event will be televised live on BBC1. Judith Weir comments: 'It is a particular honour to contribute new music for this great occasion, and a pleasure to write a choral version of Robert Bridges' beautiful verse.' Calling the people to recollection, this anthem surrounds the listener with a positive message of God's mercy and love. An expressive tune announces this sermon of assurance with tenderness and restrained harmonies. A pleasant partnership between the accompaniment and the text make the sentiments of God's eternal love jump from the printed page.
