Will Todd born in 1970 is forging a strong reputation for himself as a composer who is equally at ease in opera oratorio church music and jazz. His style is instantly accessible and lastingly memorable. He spent his formative years steeped in both jazz and the English choral tradition so in his choral music he is able to juxtapose strong rhythmic drive and rich harmonies with exquisitely lyrical vocal lines. 'The Christ-child' is an example of Todd's writing at its most beautiful. Setting words by G.K. Chesterton slow-moving piano chords underpin sublime four-part choral textures.

And although the subject is complex the message is simple and requires similar simplicity in performance withfreedom and rubato in this powerful and inspirational composition.

Stella natalis is a work in twelve movements by Karl Jenkins celebrating different aspects of Christmastide - winter the sleeping child tidings of peace thanksgiving - with words ranging from the psalms to new texts by Carol Barratt. Conveying the Christmas message of peace goodwill compassion and a new beginning Stella natalis (?star of birth? ?star of origin?) draws on an expanded palette of inspiration including the Old Testament Zulu text and reference to Hindu gods. The scoring is for mixed chorus with an optional second ad lib chorus suitable forchildren's voices and trumpet keyboards percussion and string orchestra. This vocal score features a fully realised keyboard reduction for rehearsal purposes.
