This third installment in the Gathered to Worship organ series, has 25 new titles arranged by some of today’s finest composers of organ music. This volume contains classic hymn tunes—many composed in the nineteenth century—and also a good sampling of folk melodies. From the setting of laudate dominum in a Baroque style, to the contemplative meditation on southwell, to the energetic fanfare of lauda anima, and triumphant toccata on thaxted, this collection and its preceding volumes are essential for the library of every church organist!

Vagn Holmboe (1909-1996) was a 20th century composer in the neo-classical style, widely recognised as the most important Danish composer since Nielsen. He is best known for his symphonic works, solo concertos, and chamber music, but his choral a cappella compositions are worthy of the same merit.
Vagn Holmboe’s Lauda, Anima Mea Op.59c is taken from his second collection of Liber Canticorum and consists of three movements: Lauda, Anima Mea, Laudabo Dominum and Psallam Deo. The texts are taken from the Old Testament, and the music is scored for a cappella SATB Choir.

Lary Visser’s take on lauda anima offers a wide spectrum of musical contrasts, from a spectacular introduction to a quiet interlude between verses 2 and 3. The sophisticated reharmonization of verses 3 and 4 alone are enough to keep this arrangement at your disposal!

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the death of Anton Diabelli we are publishing the two additional movements of his first Country Mass, the remainder of which is already available. These two movements, suitable for use during any period of the Church year, are further cause to perform at church services and in concerts the Mass in E flat major, which despite its simplicity can be impressive in effect. The flexibility in the size of the orchestra intended by the composer makes this work ideal for churches whatever their instrumental resources are. Score and parts available separately - see item CA.2711500.

Michael Costello has a proven track record with festive arrangements of beloved tunes. This setting of LAUDA ANIMA is no exception. An extended introduction (with instructions for cuts) is followed by four stanzas with short interludes between stanzas 2-3 and 3-4. Verse three (Alleluia cannot always be our song) is set for SATB a cappella voices. The final verse is unison with descant, ending with a fanfare reminiscent of the introduction and a four part Alleluia, Amen! The text is a translation from the Latin by John M. Neale (1861). Can be used as a congregation hymn or as choir anthem.
