Giuseppe Verdi was always fascinated by the plays of Shakespeare and wrote three operas based on them. The music for 'Macbeth' whose libretto is by Francesco Maria Piave and Andrea Maffeiis is dramatic and very difficult for the singers particularly the soprano playing Lady Macbeth. This is the Schirmer Edition of the Vocal Score with Italian and English text - the English translation is by Walter Ducloux.
