Par ALBENIZ ISAAC. As one of the leaders in the renaissance of Spanish music at the turn of the twentieth century, Isaac Albéniz was regarded as the founder of the Spanish 'national school.' Always fascinated with the music of Andalucia, Albeniz composed numerous small but beautifully performed portraits of his native Spain. These brightly colored piano pictures of his native land are sufficient reason for him to be called 'the Liszt of Spanish music.' Six pieces or 'pages from an album' from his opus 165 'España' appear in this volume for solo guitar, as they have been transcribed and arranged by John Griggs in notation only. / Niveau : Intermédiaire à Avancé / Classic - Solos / Répertoire / Guitare Classique et Fingerpick

The Spanish composer and pianist Isaac Albeniz (1860-1909) was one of the leading members of the Nationalist school that dominated Spanish music at the turn of the last century. One of his better known works is Espana (Op. 165), a suite of six pieces for solo Piano which he composed in 1890. The third of these was Malaguena , which draws heavily on Andalusian music and culture, particularly from the city of Malaga. It is presented here in a high-quality glossy cover, and would make the perfect gift for any pianist interested in Spanish music.

The Spanish composer and pianist Isaac Albeniz (1860-1909) was one of the leading members of the Nationalist school that dominated Spanish music at the turn of the last century. Cordoba was the fourth in a collection of 5 songs for the Piano inspired by different places in Spain, published in 1898 as Cantos de Espana (Op. 232). The city of Cordoba is said to be Albeniz' favourite city, and is home to the famous Great Mosque. The music reflects the rich history of the city, both Christian and Moorish. Cordoba has been transcribed for Guitar by Miguel Angel. It has become one of the staples of the modern Guitar repertoire.
