'san-Baptiste Duvernoy (1800-1880) was a French pianist, composer, and professor of piano at the Conservatoire de Paris. A composer of more than 300 works, he is primarily known for his studies, including the opus 176 Elementary Studies, which were written for beginner's lessons on the piano. Duvernoy's studies intentionally lack technical sophistication making them a suitable complement to Czerny etudes. The lack of technical rigor allows students the latitude to focus on expression, lyricism and tone production...With clearly notated articulation and dynamic markings, the student has the opportunity to experience music making on a number of levels...Looking at the music itself the quality and mindfulness of Schott's typography is self-evident. Through careful spacing, most of the studies fit well on a single page.--American Music Teacher.

No matter what your mood---excited, silly, angry, confused---there is an emoji etude for you! All of these interesting, little etudes are two pages with accidentals --- no key signatures. Lyrics and optional teacher duets add even more fun to this fresh, new collection of elementary solos. The composer supports overly dramatic performances i.e. students can storm off the stage after Angry, show heavy eyes during Sleepy and smile during Happy. Kids can color the emoji for each title.

Carefully selected and curated to support teachers and students in their artistic and technical development, the Violin Series, 2021 Edition includes pieces from a diverse range of eras and styles that represent stepping stones to major violin repertoire. Each level is constructed to link repertoire selections to necessary techniques and corresponding etudes, while illustrating step-by-step connections for developing core skills. Each Repertoire book includes access to quality video and audio recordings by some of North America's finest violinists and accompanists; both performance and accompaniment-only tracks for each Repertoire selection offer students a model for performance practice and the convenience of accompanied rehearsal at home.
Violin Preparatory Repertoire features student and teacher duets to promote listening skills and to provide an entry point into ensemble playing. This repertoire book for elementary-level students, distinguished by slow and fast tempos, is based on the foundational finger patterns of D major and A major, postural development, and bow division with legato and staccato strokes. Special effects, such as tapping on the side of the violin and open-string pizzicato, promote freedom of movement and encourage navigation of the fingerboard. Elementary rhythms are explored alongside supportive piano accompaniments within familiar time signatures. Featured composers include Violet Archer, Ludwig van Beethoven, Harold Birston, Frank Blachford, Jean Couthard, David Gordon Duke, Jean Ethridge, Joanne Martin, and Mary Alice Rich.

Laszlo Szendrey-Karper (1932-1991) was an internationally renowned guitarist, and the founder of organized guitar teaching in Hungary. He wrote an instructional methodology for the guitar, and composed studies and pieces for students. The eight books of his series Guitar Exercises and Pieces provide a variety of pieces for elementary and intermediate guitar students to play, arranged in order of difficulty. A basic source for Szendrey-Karper was Hungarian folk songs, in addition to which he transcribed for the guitar well known pieces composed for other instruments. Alongside his own pieces and etudes, he selected for the series studies and concert pieces by other composers (including Ferdinando Carulli, Matteo Carcassi, Johann Krieger, Henry Purcell, and Laszlo Borsody).
