The pieces collected in LA FLAUTA ROMANTICA were written by three of the greatest Spanish instrumental virtuosi of their time: the pianists Isaac Albéniz and Enrique Granados as well as the violinist Pablo de Sarasate. When transcribing their piecesthe aim was to both create convincing chamber music works for flute and to preserve the typical Spanish sound idiom of this music. The CD provides demo tracks as well as the accompaniments of each piece.

Sinfonia Hungarica is a three-movement symphony that depicts the history of Hungary. All three movements were inspired by historical key figures, wars, and other important events from this country. This symphony is a celebration of Hungary’s millennium in 2001.The final movement is named after ISTVAN, the King who introduced Christianity into Hungary and who was crowned by Pope Silvestro II on January 1, 1001. A rather solemn start leads to another war-like passage, ending with some loud crashes. This symbolizes the fact that the body of the pagan Koppany was cut into four pieces, and sent to the four castles of the country as an example. After a quiet, almost religiousintermezzo, the National Hymn of Hungary is introduced. This broad “grandioso†ending also has a symbolic meaning: after ten centuries, Hungary has many reasons to look back on the past with pride, and to look forward to the future with optimism and confidence.

Sinfonia Hungarica is a three-movement symphony that depicts the history of Hungary. All three movements were inspired by historical key figures, wars, and other important events from this country. This symphony is a celebration of Hungary’s millennium in 2001.The second movement focuses on ARPAD, the actual founder of the Hungarian State. It starts with an atmospherical passage, evoking his grandmother, Emese, who dreamt about his future destination. One of Arpad’s opponents, the Bulgarian Prince Zalan, was chased away after a fight. After this, Arpad officially named the territory “Magyarorszag.â€Dit stuk werd gecomponeerd in opdracht van het symfonisch blaasorkest Kiskunfélegyhaza uit Hongarije en opgedragen aan dirigent Ferenc Jankovski, burgemeester Jozsef Ficsor en Gabriella Kiss. The renowned Japanese composer Satoshi Yagisawa was given three separate tasks for this commission: it should be a short, attractive piece of music that is easy to listen to; it should be suitable as a choral exercise; and it should be fitting as anencore for the regular annual concert of the client. So it was that Yagisawa composed a glorious, warm-sounding work that satisfies all three requirements, and additionally serves as an excellent intermezzo in any concert.

A Scottish Hymn is a chorale arrangement of a hymn composed by Charles Hutcheson, a Scottish merchant and amateur composer who lived from 1792 to 1860. This hymn was given the title “Stracathro,†a typical Scottish name after a town in the district Angus. The melody is used with various hymn texts in the Scottish church.

Jahrhunderts nahezubringen.
