Félix Lavilla's Canciones Para Violonchelo Y Piano features songs from the popular Basque songbook contributed to over many years by Lavilla and his student pianist and researcher Josu Okiñena. This valuable publication is considered Lavilla's last great contribution to the Basque culture and is a continuation of his work recovering Basque musical heritage a project which he started in the 1950s with his  wife and prestigious singer Teresa Berganza.

After his death in Madrid in 1710 Sanz's music fell into obscurity. It was revived in the early 1900's. It has since become part of the standard guitar repertoire.
