Alone Yet Not Alone SATB

Love Reckons By Itself Alone is a work composed by Tarik O'Regan for Unaccompanied SATB Chorus. Commissioned by ASHINAGA for the 'At Home in the World' concerts the piece received its world premiere on 10th June 2015 at Jazz at Lincoln Center New York USA. This work lasts around 7 minutes and is a setting of three poems by Richard Ntiru Tsuboi Shigeji and Emily Dickinson.

SATB-A haunting and rhythmic ring out the bells ostinato contrasts with a lyrical alleluia in this well-crafted original by Roger Emerson. May be performed with piano and percussion or with percussion alone. Available: SATB and SAB. Performance Time: Approx. 2:15.

Kenneth Hasketh's arrangement of We Three Kings is a song for Children's Voices optional SATB Choir and Piano Accompaniment. The words and music were written by John Henry Hopkins Jr. while this piece was commissioned by Making Music. A full performance lasts around 4 minutes 30 seconds. This carol may be performed without SATB Chorus by just Children's Voices and Piano or without Children's Voices by SATB and Piano alone.

POD-Richard Allain's The Beloved for SATB choir and Organ. This work was commissioned by Merton College Oxford as part of the Merton Choirbook a collection of music being assembled to celebrate Merton College's 750th anniversary in 2014. The Beloved was first performed on the 18th January 2015 in Merton College Chapel by the choir of Merton College conducted by Benjamin Nicholas. This work is a setting of text by Thomas Allain: Above himThe dove will linger in flight As the Light is bathed in water The water bathed in light.And a voice will tearthe heavens apartHe alone hears now within his heart:The Father Well-pleased Whispering his delight. Richard Allain's The Beloved (Novello) another Merton College commission and also with words by his brother on the theme of Christ's baptism gives ample opportunity to demonstrate the virtues of their new organ in a toccata-like interlude illustrating God's voice tearing 'the heavens apart'. After this climax the piece subsides to a pianissimo heterophonic declamation of God's pleasure in his Son. Sam Pegg's A Child Of The Snows for SATB choir and Piano accompaniment is a setting of a poem by G. K. Chesterton. Chesterton was known as an avid traveller and was a friend to all he met on his wanderings. In his own house he was famed for his warmth and hospitality. For him the inn was almost a spiritual symbol. 'In all of my settings of his poems I have tried to convey the sense of a yearning journey of life coupled with the joy of finding something thought lost forever: we travel to a place that if we are truthful we never really left. In A Child of the Snows I have tried to suggest the wandering wondering journey to the next staging post 'the Inn at the end of the world'. - Sam Pegg There is heard a hymn when the panes are dim And never before or again When the nights are strong with a darkness long And the dark is alive with rain. Never we know but in sleet and in snow The place where the great fires are That the midst of the earth is a raging mirthAnd the heart of the earth a star. Sight-singing is important in the development of independent musicianship. The music in this collection will aid in the development of this skill but also be interesting enough to motivate the singer and be substantive enough to be useful in a variety of performance applications.Song categories include Patriotic Christmas Folk Song Renaissance and Baroque Part Songs and Spirituals. All songs will stand alone as a cappella settings. Several songs also have optional Piano accompaniments. Sight-reading or analysis tips are included for each selection.
