The Sinfonias, BWV 787–801, also known as 3-Part
Inventions, are a collection of short keyboard
compositions by J.S. Bach. They were originally written
as "Fantasias" in the Clavierbüchlein for Wilhelm
Friedemann Bach (1720), a Clavier-booklet for his
eldest son, and later (1723) renamed "Sinfonias" and
rewritten as musical exercises for his students.
