With this score, we return to the subject of "The
Irregular", published on July 12, 2018 and dedicated
"to those who don’t want or cannot live in four
quarters". Now our thoughts go to the "crazy" that
consciously decides to deviate from the norm: a
beneficial role, when creative, but at the same time
feared and denied (“Yo soy la locura / La que sola
infundo / Plazer y dulçura y contento al mundo. /
Sirven a mi nombre / todos mucho o poco / y pero no ay
hombre / que piense ser loco”).(+)

Opposed to the thoughtful character of the "Locura" by
Henry De Bailly, the monotonous and harassing one of
the "Folias Gallegas" by Santiago de Murcia (divided
into seven phrases of equal length) alludes to the
oppressive bonds of the collectivity, to which the
"irregular" tries in vain to adapt, changing himself in
the first five "diferencias". But the contrast with the
homologating obsession of social rites - the real
madness - seems incurable and he ends up finding
himself more and more disoriented and
misunderstood.
In the end we find out how the only possible solution
(represented by the last variation, in which the
initial theme reappears with a less problematic
accompaniment of arpeggios), is that of proclaiming
one's own singularity serenely and without guilt, while
remaining aware of the fact that, ultimately, it will
always be the inexorable and pounding rhythm of the
mass to prevail.
