This Klezmer-informed piece was inspired by a road trip
on Vancouver Island that I (Itamar Danziger) took with
Mike Keddy, a musician and educator. Mike showed me a
local tree, the Arbutus, which grows in very specific
areas, including in certain parts of Vancouver Island.
Those grand trees seemed very personable to me –
quite anthropomophically inviting. It was almost like
the trees were dancing through the forest and the
winds! This piece is as an ode to Mike, the impressive

music – all of which, are a big inspiration to
many.
