The three letters S.M.G. are the initials of the
previous owner on the cover of the manuscript in the
Hamburg State and University Library, which is the only
surviving source for this piece. Together with the year
1691 the manuscript was created, the letters are used
to identify this movement without a name of a composer.
Because in this manuscript some works are labelled with
the author's name Vincent Lübeck, this anonymous
trumpeter piece is sometimes attributed to him.
