Jean-Michel started learning the accordion when he was very young. Aged 15 he obtained a price of distinction from the French accordion club and he spent his teenage years learning music with a second instrument, the clarinet.
After being awarded various prices from the music Academies of Caen and Versailles, he obtained his teaching diploma in 1996.
Since 1999, he has been teaching his two favorite instruments, the accordion and the clarinet at the music Academy of Bernay.
In 2005 he joined the A/Corps company (contemporary dance) and participated in composing musics for different shows.
Since 2009, he has been playing the accordion in the jazz trio Ana Kap with trumpetist Pierre Millet and violinist Manuel Decocq. In 2011 he went on tour with comedian Emmanuel Pleintel and since April 2012 he has composed and played traditional Balkan music.
In 2001 the Clarinote ensemble asked him to compose an opera for children "Le chant de la cité prospère", this request followed by several orders for symphony orchestras, including "Un monde différent" and "Puzzle". In 2011 the music Academies of Lorient and Vannes order from him a piece of music for orchestra, "Les parfums de Lorient".
In 2012, he composed the soundtrack for Andrew Sebas' short film "Katarina Lebianov" and participated in the musical composition of various short films as well as a composition for piano solo for the film "H3P" directed by Jean-Guillaume Mathieu. In July 2013 he composed the soundtrack for Yann Largouët's short film "Dernière valse pour un jean-foutre". In September 2014, he composed the soundtrack for Yong-Hee Park's short film "Déesse déchue de la chasse". Projects are in progress with film directors
Dominique Marion Peredone (société CAMELUNA), Martial Odone for the short film "Un avenir avant l'orage", Charles Meurisse. Some of his partitions have been published byPierre Lafitan, Fertile Plaine and Profs-édition.
