In effect a song for violin and piano, not unlike some
of Prince Albert's lieder for voice and piano, this
little piece of salon music has a distinctive charm and
simplicity. Probably written in the 1840s, it has a
straightforward AABBA structure. I have taken the
liberty of writing out the repeats in full with the
kind of ornamentation common at the time. Players who
prefer the original can easily repeat the relevant
unornamented 8-bar phrases. Copy-text: The Collected

(London, n.d. [1882?]), pp. 220-21. Queen Victoria
authorised this edition from her Master of the Queen's

intentions. Dynamics etc as in the original; I have
added the metronome mark.
