Yes, music is a universal language, remember that a performer can play the sheet with his emotions, culture, felt, and his experiences as Len, great musician. Music on freescore intended to be shared and thus keep free expression.
I have been recording music from Freescores for a few years now, and always try to perform a piece to the best of my ability....sometimes different that perhaps the composer/arranger intended, but always with the highest level of musicality, expression and joy....it has NEVER been my intention to OFFEND any contributor to Freescores....for some, I am being told, this is not the case....if I have offended some of you composers with my often "unique" renditions of your tunes, it is only because I hear them perhaps differently, or would enjoy playing what was written for an instrument that I do not play....to me this was a compliment....stating that the music I found was delightful and I enjoyed playing it....however, some apparently feel that my renditions diminish their compositions in some way and demand that I delete my mp3s....I feel that freedom of musical expression is at question here....is music to be performed ONLY AS WRITTEN, or can music lovers play a piece freely and let those who listen decide if they want to hear it....of the nearly 2,000,000 people who have listened and downloaded my mp3s, and sent me positive emails, I THANK YOU...I request that you let Victor Reny know how you feel about an interpreters ability to play a piece of music....perhaps you feel that it should only be played as written, perhaps you have tolerance for musicians like me world wide to find a piece, play it, post it on Freescores and let listeners have the choice....it is up to YOU.
