I adore this piece, it has a beautiful and thrilling quality that brings it from passionate melodies, rousing dance-like passages, to sweet wistful lines that move you. This piece compelled me to practice like I never practiced in my life because I simply couldn't leave it alone. It is challenging but not impossible which only adds to its beauty.

The Grieg Sonata in Em is an absolutely gorgeous piece of wonderful depth - a show piece. The quality of sheet music is excellent. I first worked on this piece in my late teens.Four movements and 20+ pages long, it took me months to get a true handle on just the 1st movement - and it was worth every hour I put in. The second movement is lush in sound, a small masterpiece all its own. The 4th movement has a stoic, emotional, almost patriotic feel with a wonderful finale. Some uncomfortable stretches for small hands, but with careful fingering - and just a few note eliminations, totally do-able. If you've mastered several Bach Inventions, and a few Mozart and Beethoven Sonatas, you're ready for this! Go for it! It is a piece you will cherish and enjoy playing all your life.
