According to Theodore Raph in his 1964 book " The
American song treasury : 100 favorites", people were
requesting the song at sheet music stores in the 1870s;
convinced that there was a business oppurtunity Charles
E. Pratt published the sheet music (1881) for the song
under the pseudonyms H.J. Fulmer and J.T. Wood. This
title "Bring Back My Bonnie to Me" subsequently became
popular especially with college singing groups.
